[Feedback] WPvP Zul'Gurub Event

Here is another interesting place, the very end of the Hyjal quest line:

Death in this area sends you outside and back alive. When People are doing the quest they are in a different phase so if a high level is inside we would not even see them.

My lvl 20 died inside and was ported outside to ashenvale, a GY near Astanaar. The Horde might be sent to a different GY which would be good.

omg smexiest pllace for a pvp event ive seen thus far

The Lava ticks for 600 damage.

Here is a short video showing the place. Starting at the top of the entrance which is kindof a bridge that leads down to the main area. All the pillars have LoS, even the broken pillars.

0:25 - I jump to a small platform with the Blue raid icon. This might be a good place for the summoning stone for Alliance.

0:50 - similar platform on the other side with the Red raid icon, for the Horde summoning stone.

1:22 - This place has LoS, so does the place on the other side.

1:50 - Alternative place for the summoning stones is Yellow raid icon and the Green raid icon on the other side.

I think we should organize 3s, 5s and 10s with a last man standing type scenario. Would make for great tournament/ arena play. That lava place looks amazing xD

Love that area Kochist!!

My suggestion:

Single life series with and no hunters/ele shams and quick resets after each match. And it doesn't have to be done to the last person (maybe 10% of starting # of players). And a time limit on the match and no stealthing at a certain point to eliminate drawing out the matches to a long boring end.

Summons will be no issue as they will be done at the end of each round. Players would be encouraged to stay and watch in spirit form. Sign up in advance. Yes it will bum some people out but it would also promote others to watch these boards for future events. Signing up will allow the organizer's to limit healers, classes and off heals subject to the event host's decision - as long as it is outlined and transparent (in advance).

Maybe after 10 rounds open up the event to all 20s and no rules/anything goes.

Summoning: Would like to submit a standing rule: Once you are summoned then you stay until another person is summoned. This will allow players to switch out. Of course the main summoner/lock will need to remain but could even dual box to get a chance to play their 20 if others are present.

TIming: You'lll need lots of helpers on both sides. Decide what you need in advance and have alt people if original people fail to show. Even get p2p volunteers to do shifts of time so they can also participate in the event to some degree. Start events a half hour earlier than needed for logistical reasons. Meaning event starts at 3 and summons begin at 2:30. No summons will be done after 3 until the next round. CRZ takes additional planning so all the better to have advanced sign up to speed up logistics.

Fair play rules: No attacking summoning stone area. No GY camping. No going past barriers that are defined as off limits. No fighting when told in raid warning to stop fighting. Move to an area when instructed by raid warning without delay. Violators get first a warning then a raid kick if necessary.

I was thinking we could switch between Large open battles and competitive smaller ones.

The large ones would be less organized and just let everyone be invited and play. Then switch to a smaller fight with two organized teams. Everyone else could watch the battle from the bridge.

That would be pretty awesome actually :p There is definitely a lot of potential here. I love the gladiator-esque arena style with everyone else watching. A round-robin format with teams of three could be something we can try as well!

This would be possible but in that type of game we really do not need the warlocks or use a special zone. If people just die once and then wait for the next game then Death Timers would not be a problem. A normal ghost run to spawn would work.

The reason for using the summons + special zone is to make it feel more like a BattleGround in that you die and then can get back into the battle fairly quickly.

I also think it would be cool if we had stocks (like in super smash bros. melee/brawl) where you would get rezzed a certain amount of times (maybe 3/5 lives?). And if you were running teams you could pass stocks, etc.

Do the places where the world dragons used to spawn have similar mechanics? If so then I'm sure we could use twilight grove in duskwood and the others as well. That would make variety no problem. I think we should use this next week. It would be cool.

EDIT If you die in Twilight Grove you do turn into a ghost. Just tested

If we wanted to do a "one life" type of place seradane in the hinterlands would be great. It is a huge zone with plenty of large structures to act as objectives and a portal in the middle as a place for king of the hill type action. My idea is use one of those 1500 health honor banners for one team in front of the portal to act as a sort of objective. The other offensive team would try to kill the horde banner and place their banner on top while trying to wipe the defensive team and vice versa. Or just have a bit of a battle to place your banner, but that might not be as organized.

Wasn't sure if I should post these as I didn't screenshot during the fights. The impression left by my pics is that it was a World Picnic vs Picnic Zul'Gurub Event I guess, haha.

Just sad I didn't catch Decem, the screenshot must have failed, for some reason it's missing. :(

Anyway, here you go. ^^

The res timer and/or run back can serve as a balance between 1 life and the quick BG respawn times. In BGs there is almost no penalty for dieing which is both unrealistic and not how it works with the rest of the game such as world PvP. 1 life is more like an arena battle and would surely get boring if you die way before the match ends, so it's a good balance.
