I grew up with the understanding that I was a white person with some Native American mixed in. whenever I would take standardized tests in school I would check the box for "white" and "native american". my dad told me all my life that someone on his mom's side of the family was "half Indian" or something which made me 1/32nd. sometimes my dad would hear something that no one else heard and then say "its the Indian blood" because apparently Native Americans have exceptional hearing. he was also very proud of his arrowhead collection and often talked about going to parks to look for arrowheads
so about a year ago my dad heard about this DNA testing site and sent in a sample to determine our ancestry, to know for sure just how Indian we really were. he thought we might qualify for benefits of some sort or maybe be able to figure out which tribe our ancestors were a part of
when the DNA tests were complete and our blood results were in, I was happy to learn that I have a low chance of going bald. I also learned that I am 100% white
