Once upon a time I was against exploits in any form or way myself. I thought Drayner posting the WotLK leg exploits on the front of twink info was unfair, evil, etc. But then I warmed up to the idea for the following reasons, which came clear to me soon after that event:
- Publicity is Publicity. Good or bad, twinkinfo will get attention.
- Blizzard seriously needs to wake up when it comes to cheaters and exploiters.
- Guests, Members, everyone, can decide for themselves what kind of a community TI is. It's a community that shares information, of all kinds, related to twinking.
- The more public something is, the more attention it has. This attention eventually reaches Blizzard, where they can decide what to do with said information. I publicize the risk all of my ventures pose, and I'm sure people are aware of this.
- Information is meant to be shared by others for others.
I temporarily decided to charge for the F2P name change, not for the method, but for the labor involved. I asked for a single dollar for the service, which isn't much. I soon released a guide for everyone to use, which was intended in the beginning.
I am doing Blizzard's testing for them. I've had Blizzard personally fix bugs and exploits I have discovered on multiple occasions Everyone likes a bit of fame, but in the end, Blizzard fixes what I do, or clearly points out where they stand on the issue. I'm going to continue doing what I do because I like doing it, I like the reception I receive (both negative and positive), and I like stirring a discussion of any kind on these forums.
I also believe leo is being subject to personal bias, as (no egoflaunting or offence intended) I've been a longer standing member of the community and have contributed (regardless of the content of said contributions) more than he has, gaining more popularity/notoriety. The only reason I point him out or poke fun at him once in a while is for his extreme persistence in attempting to censor the content I post when it comes to exploits. I can see where his position is coming from, as I was taking that stance myself a few years ago. However, I strongly disagree with all kinds of censorship, so I will continue telling him the same thing I always do. I've heard your ethics, and I raise you freedom of speech.
Cheers, and as always, fxck the system,
- Thirk
