Not really even sure why anyone is even bothering with the twink cup. I think we all knew this was going to happen.

That is a very ignorant thing to say. We all know ddos will happen, yes; but we planned on taking precautions before hand. Just didn't think it would have to be this soon. The Twink Cup is a new idea that
has the interest of the whole bracket because it 1. Promotes activity, 2. Promotes competition within the bracket, and 3. Gives the community a way to be rewarded for all their years of hard work, dedication, and effort to keep this community afloat.

Regarding the why even bother with twink cup comment...this can be protected against. For example my guild doesn't Skype we ts. Before twink cup we will all have ips changed. We will embargo ti and bis for the week of after change ips (probably least necessary step but want to be 100% sure), and we'll set up a twink cup only temporary ts server for team only.

I wasn't around last year but get the impression ppl were caught off guard. That won't happen this year.

Separately I noticed the the primary culprit here is no longer in the guild I mentioned unless he changed his name. So grats for that. Not referring to Moran btw...not a fan if him at all but hoping that was just a one time only severe lack of judgement on his part that never happens again.

Just as a preliminary measure, make sure this box is checked in skype:

If it is, you are fairly well protected from getting your skype name resolved into an IP. If someone already has your IP, its impossible to protect yourself from the actual DDOS.

I'm not trying to be ignorant. I like the idea of a twink cup. I like the idea of promoting a bracket and pushing towards something that has a chance to better the community as a whole. The issue I see, however, is that the 19 community is already toxic by nature. We have several big names that have been ruining games in the 19 bracket since WOTLK. This tournament is going to take all those big names and put them into a tournament against each other, where these toxic personalities are going to be given a platform to do this sort of shit from.

Even if you take precautions across the board, it's inevitable that someone still cries foul when they get 'DDOSed' and it causes a loss. I put that in ellipses because unless you have a background in IT, it's very difficult to know that you're being DDOSed, let alone who is doing it. It's fair to say that some people will just have internet issues and blame it on a DDOS attack, even if it's not actually happening. Stuff like this already prevents people like me from participating. I'm really not sure how this is supposed to be good for the community at this point in time.

Maybe if the bracket grew, toxic people moved on to other brackets, and 19s had a much better representation across the board, the twinkcup would be an amazing event. Even if there weren't any prize money, it would be better if less popular twinks had a shot at competing on a level playing field.

Just my 2c.

The RBG community had the same issue when they did their tourney. I think their issue was even more serious since a lot of their community members ddos'd or knew someone that could. They had rules in place for this. Just because there's an issue doesn't mean we have to give up.

I understand you're trying to bring this issue to light but you don't have to be so negative. There's a difference between constructive critisicm and just being negative.

What people don't get is that merely switching to TS or Ventrillo or any other program unless you were always committed to such a program, it does absolutely nothing. People with skype's can no longer switch to TS and be ok when their IP's are already out their, one of the easiest of 2 ways to protect yourself and still use skype (which I believe to be superior), is to proxy your skype and change your IP, or to call your ISP and ask for a VPN to protect you from future ddos. A step I didn't deem necessary until July, but I guess I'm sadly mistaken.

No offense but i don't believe this is your bracket anymore.

Lol good, this bracket is super cancerous now, full of cancerous kids that have to DDOS apparently to troll each other, bracket was 10 times better back in wrath when the "good" players still played, the players now are average compared to old school players, anyways, have fun with your dead bracket that will come back alive for 3-4 weeks then die with the intention of killing it, and then hearing you guys QQ again that its dead

People will play dirty when it comes down to $4,000 for a few pixels.

Also, has anyone actually come out and admitted about DDoSing people? Or is this just "Oh I got disconnected, it must have been a ddos and maybe not any other potential factors".

If the above answer is yes and someone has actually admitted ddosing 19s in the past, well first off, gotta hand it to you - I am actually amazed to see twinkers have good computer skills. great potential in the tech business which pays well. But yeah, its $4,000 bucks guys. the heck are you expecting. People to play fair..?

you dont really need to be tech saby to buy a booter and use a resolver. sponser ;p

Just to be clear, in order to be fully protected, you need to first change your IP then set up a proxy?

How do you change your IP? Do you have to call your internet provider?

The best way to do it would be to set up a proxy then change your IP. You can change your IP by calling your ISP and letting them know you are getting DDoS'd and they will change it for you. The reason you proxy up first is that once you get a new IP nobody can resolve you.

Also, I am in full support in boycotting the DDoSers. It is sad that some people find it necessary to DDoS, at 19s in particular, and just goes to show how pathetic some people really are.

Thanks mate, wasn't sure if you had to set up a proxy to your specific IP. Don't really know anything about this topic haha.

Your proxy is specific to your computer not your IP. It allows anonymous web connectivity by masking your IP. As Bigmoran's guide says, you need to be careful that you do not log in to your Skype on another computer or phone that is not proxied on your internet because that will enable someone to resolve you.

It's honestly pathetic that this is even a discussion, what happened to this place? I 100% agree with putting the sociopaths responsible for this on blast. I don't understand what kind of thrill nerds get out of doing stuff like this, like are your lives really that devoid of meaning and purpose that you spend your time getting a rise out of ruining fun for other people?
