First things first, and don't be fooled, Shane was a fucking asshat that did not give one shit about this website when the monetary value went away. To be completely fair, I have to give the majority of TI users the benefit of the doubt as most people do not understand the state of which Twinkinfo was left at when the site was bought by Myrm. I don't want to hear another word for how great of an owner Shane was for Twinkinfo, he was not, is not, and will not be a further asset to this site. Don't kid yourselves.
As a longtime member of the twinking community, I have played in various different brackets and I stay active on 3-4 of the forum sections to this day. One of the biggest issues that brackets outside of 19s runs into on a regular basis is the quality of the threads that are available to read. Whether said thread deals with gearing a specific class, guild recruitment thread, a tournament being organized, an interview, a "Best of" thread, a general discussion thread, any given topic on any given subject; Quality Counts. One of the reasons that the 19s section of TI has an abundant viewership, active posters, ongoing discussions, and entertaining range of topics is due solely to the quality of threads.
It's a simple concept that many on Twinkinfo overlook, and why certain forums of TI flourish in certain genres of threads/activity and others struggle to get a grasp. For instance, let's take the "Best of" threads that EVERYONE and their mother have an opinion on one way or the other, and not the opinion of the players in these given threads, but the opinion of the threads themselves. The quality of the content in any thread, including a "Best of" thread will determine the interest and attraction said thread receives. For instance, everyone who played 19s back in MoP will forever remember
The Truth about the 19 Community July 2013 thread giving a brutally honest, extremely detailed opinion of an inordinate amount of players in the 19s community. Now compare a similar style thread that has now hit the back pages of Twinkinfo just only a few weeks ago in the 20s section,
Who is the best 20 Paladin?. The 19 Thread has just shy of 20,000 views, 10 times the amount as the 20 thread posted and both have hit the back pages of Twinkinfo to this point. Obviously the 19s thread has been on the site for a much larger time, yet the similar thread posted in 20s would not have seen another light of day if it were not for myself giving it recognition for the poor quality and content put into the thread. The opening posts of said threads speaks for themselves.
Let's take another genre of thread, a tournament thread would suit well. Here is this years
2015 Twink Cup Discussion, Planning, Indiegogo thread for planning the 19s tournament this past August, and compare it to the
39 Twink Cup Rules Suggestion Thread! In this instance, both threads have done a great job of organizing the scene for said tournament, and the opening post for the 39 thread is extremely organized. But in this case scenario let's look at the traction said threads have mounted. The last post for an
active tournament that is still to happen for 39s was back on September 28th and has drawn 1.2k views in comparison to the near 90k viewers for the 19s thread. The dedication, interest, investment, competition and QUALITY of the 19 Twink Cup drew far more attention than the 39s tournament, that is still supposed to happen? Who knows, haven't heard in a while.
A final genre of thread as an example, take a look at the 20 f2p
Gearing Index Scale in comparison to any other gear scaling thread on Twinkinfo... not even a worthy link in comparison to that massive amount of beneficial information.
The point of the matter is Quality Counts, and a large majority of Twinkinfo fails to realize that, or is not willing to put in the work, effort, and dedication to sustain healthy threads.
Regardless of topic, if you are sick of reading certain genre threads, don't open them, no one is making you read them! If you have a topic you would be interested in discussing with the community, make an engaging thread about said topic and have at it. If you are interested in organizing a tournament, step up and run the event yourself! Or better yet, if someone has a thread already working on said tournament, write a meaningful, added opinion to the thread that is worth reading to bring discussion and/or change to said event.
There are infinite opportunities at the touch of your fingertips on Twinkinfo, bare in mind the threads/posts that you write mold and reflect the community/bracket that you represent, better yet the culture of the bracket you play in. You can't be bothered to read a thread on Twinkinfo where players are insulting one another over WoW play or inner community drama circles, challenge yourself to create a thread that you feel can benefit players in your community with high quality posts. More often than not, it is not the topics themselves on Twinkinfo that attract or stray users from clicking the link to read the opening post. It is the quality of the thread that keeps people reading, and more often than not, the name of the author of said thread if that person consistently creates quality content.
Be the change you want to see on Twinkinfo, no one is holding you back from sharing your interests and opinions! Remember friends, Quality Counts!
