Thanks for confirming this. Looks like the greens from boxes are worse than the white armor you start with lol.
Side note - you can re-enable ilvl for lower levels with an addon. I know deja's character addon does it - there are probably others.

Note that twinks can't get the gardening tools. So you're down to brushwood blade or having a horde buy you the scimitar.

The ilvl 27 weapons from the crates are faster than the heirloom stuff, but give more ilvl (and therefore stats). Its hard to directly compare them with the current character page though. Your first 27 weapon should go into your offhand probably.

Sigh... Still looking for blues to drop from the crates, sitting at ilvl 41. The abysmal win-loss ratio I've got on hunter isn't helping either! Discipline priest and feral druid have one slot filled each (and unsurprisingly they've got more wins in general). I think even my affliction warlock on Horde side has one piece. Am I right to assume that after the obvious whites, there are no still obtainable ilvl 25+ options outside the crates (I've got the cloack and belt from dungeons) for hunters?

Hunters have it rough. I was pretty unimpressed with survival and marksman was okay. I've heard decent things about BM so I might try that.
Check the quickstart guide in my sig for what we know so far, but if the 25 belt/cloak and the head/neck/legs/rings are the pretty easy steps. Getting good trinkets will be a bit harder (AGM is only one you can really get right now if you don't already have fishing/insignia laying around). Minor recombobulator is better than heirlooms, but relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.
Otherwise just make sure you have a slow weapon speed. So far I'm not sure whether a slower speed weapon that scales to 24 is better than the 27 blue. It'll depend on class/spec and how close you are to a stat breakpoint. I'm guessing you'll want the slow speed more than anything else.
The good news is that even getting full BiS won't be a huge bump. So you're basically pretty geared already. Maybe thats not good news if you're hoping that better gear will help you against the menace that is 10 disc...

Cheers for the reply. Yeah, I've got AGM and luckily hadn't deleted the old insignia! Using the heirloom 2-h axe at the moment and haven't come across anything better so far. Based on what I've observed and also read in your guide, all I can do at the moment is queue and hope for luck with the crates. You can check Bloodnova on EU armory but I'd say I've got everything else sorted. I like survival gameplay but the damage obviously doesn't match ferals and the like. And having no gap closers is a pain.
