Balancing free WoW with free WAR

Legend
I like to play both free versions of these games, and I find the WoW starter account to be easily superior in terms of things to do, because the accomplishments will keep a starter account busy for days of gametime. On the other hand, I have found the free trial of WAR to be more satisfying in terms of simple player versus player combat. On some days I just want to explore or do DMF dailies, and on other days I actually want to kill other people, whether it be in WSG or AB, or the rotating scenarios that WAR will provide to free trials. Since WAR provides four different battlegrounds/scenarios, It would be great if WoW could do the same. Do you think Blizzard would bestow Alterac Valley on us anytime soon?

we are lucky to get AB at a lower level

What the hell is WAR?

Definitely not.

Warhammer Online and to answer op probaly not, blizz doesn't like handing out things for free as the purpose of trial accounts was not to stay at lvl 20 but to entice the player to want to continue their journeys in azeroth so we probaly won't see anything new for trials for a while

I doubt trials will ever get anything new besides more restrictions. F2P is an ad campaign and is intended to give people a taste of the game. I can't imagine Blizzard would use its WoW employees' (who they are slowing letting loose) time changing the features of F2P unless an aspect became problematic for paying customers. The only changes that I would foresee happening to F2Ps would be changes that would also affect gameplay for P2Ps of the 20-24 bracket.

That being said, I would love some F2P EOTS... So ignore my realism/pessimism :p

Just how good is the WAR f2p battlegrounds? Active enough for fast queues? Balanced between the classes?

I always wanted to get into F2P WAR but i've always thought its a dying game (both the retail and f2p portions of it)

Can you tell me more?

WAR PvE is pretty terrible, for the free trial, but PvP is quite good. They just reduced their servers down to about two or three, so when you queue for a scenario (they have 6v6, and 12v12), you only wait 5-10 minutes for a pop. Classes are horribly imbalanced in endgame, but in the free trial bracket, there are no Crowd Control abilities available yet. The result is a very nice deathmatch-style scenario of ranged and melee classes trying to outmaneuver each other, with healer classes being able to single-target heal when necessary. The only problem is that Mythic does not have the resources that Blizzard has. I have had a free trial WAR twink for about two years now, and the gear I have been able to collect is simply not available in the game anymore, so I enjoy a huge advantage.

The best part is that you get four different battlegrounds, and they keep changing every month.

Cool. I'm only interested in RvR.... What about class balancing between Order vs Destruction, or queue times? Which faction do you recommend? Are there big gear differences between O vs D like eyepatch for Alliance in WoW f2p?

So a lot of gear is grandfathered you mean? How much of the population are fully GFed twinks? If I start now will I be able to compete ? or get rolled due to the gear differences?

Very likely going to roll soon - and hope more APers come join me as well :)

Ok I've downloaded the Endless Trial Streaming Client (only around 1.5gb installation)

I've rolled Destruction (WAR's version of Horde I guess) on Badlands (US) - the server.

In case you guys decide to check it out as well you'll know what faction/server we're on... Suntimehappy is joining me as well and showing me the ropes

its a bit diff from WoW so i'm learning to play it.

The endless trial caps at Lv15 which will allow us to play PVP at the lowest bracket as I understand it.

Hey Purse,

If you come across a dwarf slayer on Badlands named Mohawkmadness, that would be me. The trial caps at rank 10, but you are then bolstered to rank 15 stats when you enter the RvR area or any scenarios. You should pick up scavenging and talisman making as your first two professions, and slowly learn the crafting system in order to level both those until you can create the rank 8 purple stat talismans that give you +17 to a stat. Any trial account is capable of making these, if they know how to, and it is exactly the same as what a paid player can make. After that, it's a slow grind with cultivating and potionmaking to start making the potions you will need. Much like WoW, you get one offensive and one defensive potion, and since the stat increases are around +30 per potion, it's another huge boost that can't be overshadowed by a paid character.

Those are the main tricks, really, the best gear can be found at the vendors in the warcamp. Helms, shoulders, and cloaks are the items that only the older trial accounts will have, as they were removed from the game for characters rank 10 or lower. Occasionally, during a holiday event, you can find one of these items.

Enjoy the action, I'm a fan of the scenarios myself because the large, open RvR lake is usually one-sided at most times of the day. If you can log on when both populations are even, however, it is some of the best fighting you can experience.

@Japon; compared to wow f2p, how would you say you like WAR?
Edit: nvm, saw your first post! will try it :D thx

Melee classes are difficult because it's hard to find a good healer in PuGs. Either of your choices seem good, I would stay away from the melee non-tanks as it can get quite frustrating continuously dying. I have a twink for every dwarf class, and I found my rune priest sorely lacking in DPS so I made him into a pure healer. Bright wizard is, of course, quite the opposite, and will actually do damage to him/herself while casting powerful spells. Archmages are a combination of the two, with self heals and reasonable damage spells, and look just like your avatar to boot. If you decide on a cloth class, I would suggest making armor talismans. The armor talismans are a flat increase for all classes, and can triple the amount of armor a cloth wearer can have.

this comment mite be a little hated, but i play runescape & f2p wow. the games are alot different though and most wow players hate runescape and the same with runescape players but if you really want a new game to play check it out. it will take along time to "max" on there so you wont get bored fast at all. just a suggestion.
