Holy Pallies

  • Im trying to break down Paladins (Mainly Holy) to see if I should keep or lose my hpally

    Holy Paladins:
in MoP Hpally's gain Divine Shield at level 18
Blizz did take out Hand of Protection from paladins
Hpallies gain Holy Insight... 400% mana pool.... I havent checked other healing classes quite yet but that seems an obnoxious amount to me
Pallies lose Holy Light which will also affect Retribution Paladins
Hammer of Justice stun time has been increased by 1 second given that it is 5 and it will be 6 seconds
Pursuit of Justice is going to be very overpowered i think for flag carrying, a holy pally for example can spam holy shock on themselves to give them a 30% movement speed at all times. The 30% adds onto the 10% at all times from Pursuit of Justice giving you 40% at all times

Protection and Retribution Paladins: Keep in mind some of the same things apply to Protection and Retribution as I said earlier under Holy Paladins.

Ok so this should be important for Prot. Word of Glory will no longer has a cooldown (has a 20 second cd now)
I would say that for Protection warriors they should use Speed of Light because the 70% speed bonus can be very useful while FC'ing. I think that protection should use Speed of Light over Pursuit of Justice because for holy palladins it is easier to gain the holy power given that they do not need an enemy whereas for protection they need a enemy to gain the holy power
Protection and Retribution paladins are going to have bigger heals also because they gain spell power equal to 100% of your strength
Now obviously retribution will take Long Arm of the Law so they can catch hunter's and to get in within melee range quicker

I think that in general in MoP paladins will gain a major boast especially Retribution. Although they lose the 300% holy light after a KB I think that Divine Shield allows them to do 2 on 1's (if their up to it) and they will get bigger Flash Heal's with the spell power bonus. The 45% movement speed gained from Long Arm of the Law will allow them to atleast stand a chance against Hunter's.

Protection Paladins in MoP will be able to stay alive longer with the mana regeneration given and the spell power bonus.

Holy Paladins will get A TON better. 400% mana pool... thats unheard of. The only loss is Holy Light. Holy Light has been moved to level 33. I think that Pursuit of Justice will allow Holy Paladin survivability to be increased. Also Holy Shock will get a healing boost and the mana cost will remain the same. All in all I think that I will stick with Holy but I have all the gear for Retribution besides the AGM's because I have been using the intellect BoA trinkets so that wont really be problem for me and I also have a lot of tanking and FC'ing gear but I am open to suggestions and I really want other people's opinions on this.

I worked hard on this but any constructive criticism would be much appreciated <3
    Happy Twinking

another thing to consider with MOP changes are being able to (apparently) dodge and parry both ranged attacks and spells. This opens up different gear choices for fc's to experiment with. While I am in no way advocating running a full avoidance set with 1.6k hp fully buffed, items like the satchel cloak and belt "of the champion" may become better than the standard of stamina you see now. Like everything this is all theory and needs to be tested.

with the 400% mana pool increase, unless blizzard doesn't want hpallies to ever oom, int wont give mana any more, or something along those lines.

yea im honestly puzzled why they gave 400% mana but i agree with you with this 400% mana i think the focus of holy pally stats is gonna change

They did this with all healers - everyone is going to have the same base mana and intellect won't give extra mana, so it is how they are balancing healers.

holy paladins rarely ever run out of mana in 19's unless they exo spam, so the 400% increase is questionable also seeing that there will be no more exo in 19 bracket. exo is going to be ret-spec lvl-46 only, it is a insta cast 20 sec CD version of avenger's shield but for ret-spec

no CD WOGs will bring prot spec back in all brackets including 85+. it was originally nerfed because of prot spec being so dominant in PVP. when there was QQ on the nerf gimping prot-spec, blizz's response was basicly that they did see prot as being a PVP spec, but the nerf also hurt ret-spec, later blizz added the sacred shield back to ret that was removed after WOTLK. the WOG nerf to a 20 sec CD for prot/ret in patch 4.1 caused alot of paladins to switch to holy in 19's

never sic your pet on a prot, cause as long as they have some to hit, they generate HP's and then WOG's and more chances to avenger's shield you down

holy light is not a gamebreaking class loss spell, rarely or never gets used. losing it really means nothing

the 400% is not extraordinary. they are changing the intellect to not increase your mana pool. all healers will get this. most healers will be rolling with Speed Of Light, as it is all around better than a movement speed that is lost as soon as you have to heal. bubble, i cannot stress enough how over-the-top powerful Bubble is. i'm looking forward to seeing what healers will be found on premade teams!

I checked all of the other healing specs for every class and the only other class with 400% mana pool is restoration druids but resto druids in general arent very good except when FC'ing so im not seeing them as a threat
