85 or 89 for PvP?

Best gear we can get from Dragon Soul and Firelands at 85.
Is there any benefit of playing 89?

I'd definitely go 89 for PvP. The ghost iron dragonling is OP and the engineering helm is pretty great too. You get 3 cogwheel slots on the ghost iron dragonling which allows you to have +93 to secondary stats total at +31 per cogwheel slot. And the proc triggers all the time. The dragonling it procs does a decent amount of damage, but the dragonling is kinda dumb. Sometimes it just sits there and does nothing. Still overall the best trinket.

The engineering helm you get two cogwheel sockets for a total of +62 secondary stats and a metal socket. Better than any other helm and you get like +6 more stats overall compared to the Cataclysm engineering helm.

Just keep in mind that the cogwheel gems are unique-equipped. So you can't use the same one twice. There are two that give haste, two that give crit, one that gives versatility and one that gives mastery. There are a few other one's but they give mostly useless stuff like dodge and parry. You can also use pandaria cogwheel gems if you want to stack a specific stat, but I wouldn't recommend it since they only give +22 stats.

Technically you can get all that at 87. So if you want to be lazy you can just level to 87.

Personally, I would just stay 85 - Simply because I am a legacy player. However, 89 would overall be stronger for IPVP, for reasons mentioned above.

i saw in one of my guild bank (in sargeras) this item, that can be used at lvl87, Fizzlebang's Folly, it has +14 Intel, and attacks have a chance to grant 222 mastery for 10 sec (approx 0.92 procs per sec) .. i believe they also exist in lvl87 Bronzed Elekk Statue (222 versa) and Pajeet-Nov's Perpetual Puzzle (222 agi) and Bajheric Bangle (222 str) .. even with the 75% effect nerf for being a dungeon/raid drop, these are still good trinkets for the 80-89 bracket
