64 Twink Armories Please?

Max number of sockets? 20?

Hello again,

I was just trying to figure out my max resil, and the max number of sockets.

It seems like the sockets max at 20, here is my work:

Socketed Items: (20 total sockets)

Head = 3

Shoulder = 2

Chest = 3

Belt = 2

Gloves = 2

Legs = 3

Boots = 2

Ring #1 = 1

Ring #2 =1

Relic = 1

Other resil comes from:

Trinket #1 = 28 pts (Inherited Insignia of the Alliance)

Trinket #2 = 30 pts (Runed Fungalcap)

Necklace = 20 pts (Talisman of Tenacity)

Weapon 1H = 28 pts (The Blessed Hammer of Grace)

Enchants:

Chest Enchant = 20 pts

Shield Enchant = 12 pts

Work in progress, but that is what I have so far.

edit: FINISHED! The max resilence for this toon/level is 571. Includes potions, buffs, enchants, and everything else you can do. The total damage reduction would be ~46%.

Number of sockets is correct, only thing you are missing on that list is a 1h pvp heirloom weapon.

Let me see if I get this 100%: You are saying that armor type does not matter because the 5% bonus can be offset by bonuses from sockets (at this level, anyway)?

Exactly. It's an anomoly of the 60-64 bracket only (as far as I know), due to the disproportionate stats from wrath epic gems and the number of sockets available. Higher brackets have much stronger base stats on their gear.

Another question: If I dropped ALchemy and went JC, and leveled it to 350, couldn't I make 3 x +34 resil gems, then drop JC and take another profession? I would net +42 resil from those gems, and if I had to keep JC, that would be fine with me.

As I understand it, players in the 60-64 bracket can no longer make the three JC gems, because you need to have or do something that requires level 65 now, to make those three gems.

Some players do make multiple gearsets for things like mana regen. I've never done that.

To answer your resilience questions, resilience used to reduce incoming crits at a greater scale than normal damage, but that got changed a little before cata, I believe. So now resilience is a straight damage reducer.

So, my question: Which is better( @ LvL64):

a) 15k health and 51 resil (I just picked a low resil number)

b) 5k health and 510 resil (I tried to work out the absolute max resil I could get at this level)

I'm always for resil over stamina, especially for a healer. Every time I see a stamina stacker in a bracket over 59, I want to cry. That said, beware of gimping other stats in favor of stacking just one thing (that's why I say choose the 40 stam to bracers enchant, over the 12 resil to shield enchant). Also, remember that once you surpass 32.5% resilience, you get diminishing returns.

As a healer, you can also think of resilience like this: if you have 30% resilience, that's like adding 30% to self-heals (which is not quite mathematically correct, but close enough for our purposes). Even with less stamina, one or two heals on yourself, and you come out ahead with resilience instead of stamina.

Some slots offer so much in their stats, that they offer an almost must-have gear choice. Others, like the rings, necklace, bracers, shield, etc., give you some customization options for whether you want mana regen from spirit, or feel like stacking crit or haste, or want more of a primary stat.

By themselves, these little choices don't do much. But true to twinkering, they add up to make major advantages. Same for professions. Engineers have some nice consumables, not the least of which are the healing and mana potion injectors. The mixology buff from alchemy does some nice things for flasks and elixirs, and every shield-bearer in the bracket should carry bags full of the Greater Ward of Shielding.

Idk im not a big fan of alch at 60 its probably the worst prof you can get. Not to mention the hell it is finding black lotus, our only real way of getting black lotus is throgh darkmoon faire. Its just so gay grinding for it you could seriously search for it for 10h and not find a single one.

Im actually leaning towards just farming loads of mats for elixirs now even if you burned through 4-9x2 each bg it would be faster than getting the flasks. (Unless you have stockpiled alot of black lotus).

Jc/bs gives you absolutly nothing at 60s, now that it is capped to 350 (titanium quest not obtainable).

In the chardev i made of that 64 Ehn it was actually better with full mail (healing mail belt), not with alot but it beat the leather belt with both crit/ap.

So you might want to check out your other options befoure gearing yourself in cloth/leather.

This is a good point -- gear varies by spec, so we can't say that socket gear is worth losing the 5% bonus of all one armor type, for all classes and specs. Just certain class/spec combinations.

I think Bwappo got it right with mixing mail, cloth, and leather.

I got my Leather Swamp Runner's Boots today, and I was going to put 2 x Intellect gems into it. I could not find any gems, so I dumped 2 resil gems in for now. My total resil was 507, and it says 42% damage reduction.

Then I went to a BG - wholly shizznet! I didn;t die the 1st 2 BG I ran. People would get sick of beating on me, and switch targets. Then I could heal away my mates while I took no damage. This was awesome, and we crushed in these BG's. This is what I always wanted as a healer, the ability to combat heal, take damage and not go down right away while the fight went on. It got to the point where I didn;t even look at my health for most of the fight, I waited for the Health Low warning before I popped a self heal. This was never possible before, as I would take so much damage that every other heal would be for myself. I felt like superman!

The runes also helped alot, it was liek adding +4000 health, which was a big difference, thanks again Bwappo for the tip.

I can honestly say that the leather boots has not made any negative impact on my character, and I can also say that the 2 extra resil gems getting me over 500 resil makes a huge difference. Nothing like winning a BG and not going to the graveyard once. I turned the tide of every fight I went into. Instead of sticking at a post and playing defense, I was eager to run with the DPS' and charge into combat, something I never had to do before as a healer. I still get a kick out of ppl going after me while my mates take them out, and it is even funnier when they die and I am at 90% health. I even used this strategy to win one match, I had 3 ppl chase me away from the flag carrier, and they spent over a minute trying to kill me while our flag carrier capped it.

I still have 1 more ring to get, and I am going to also put a resil gem in that, and swap out my necklace for this one:

Gronn-Blessed Warbeads - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

I might not end up with that as a final set, but it will get more more int than a +20 gem?

Thanks to Bwappo, without seeing his toon, I would have never gone down this path, and I can say this might be the most fun I have had in all my WoW days in PvP. Thanks B!

Dave

PS - I got he Gronn-blessed beads of Intellect, those the right ones?

Found another resto Shammy - he played well

Here is a guy I just played against in a BG.

Different than what we have been discussing, but he did well and beat me in healing in the last BG:

Results @ Frostmourne - Game - World of Warcraft

I am leaving town Friday for a week, so we can discussed his set more in detail when I get back.

Dave

PS - from my earlier posts, this seems to be working for me. With 507 resil, Self buff to 7900 Health, 6400 mana (Superior Wizard Oil + Draenic Wisdom Pot I make). I buff to like 10k health and close to 7500 mana.

PSS -

Results weap gets 124+63 = 187 spellpower

My Heirloom gets 168 + 30 = 198 spellpower

He loses 11 spellpower for +29 stam, I think that is worth it?

Just played with an Enhance Shammy

He was OK, his gear is most likely a WIP:

Fwamingdwagn @ Bronzebeard - Game - World of Warcraft

Anybody see Tropic Thunder?

PS - Since I always seem to add an off-from-original-post-topic PS, this bracket has had BG's pop all the time for me, usually a 15-20 min wait.

I am in CST (NW FL), think that is GMT -0600. I usually start to BG around 6 PM, and I can go till midnight (I go to sleep, so I don't know how much longer they go). I have even got some mid-day pops on my lunch break (noon-1 PM). On weekends, the pops are quicker, and anytime during the weekend, not just evenings (I even had a Sat morning 0800 pop). Just a FYI, for a twink BG, this pops more than I thought it would. I feared that I would have to wait until Wed. nights at 7 PM, etc, something like that, but this bracket pops all the time. I must add I have only been playing it the last 2 weeks, so I don;t know if I am lucky, or is this typical?

PSS - I made a Fundartwo, who I will level to 85. I made the next one Dranei, but if I need to I will just switch it.

Dave

Glad to hear it worked out well for you, Dave. Yep, those Greater Runes are fantastic.

howarddavidp said:

I recommend against single-stat variants. The "of the Intellect" nets you +31 int, while the "of the Eagle" gets you 31 stam and 20 int. I think trading in 11 int to get 31 stam is well worth it, and you can always get more int via gems.

Results is a top-shelf shaman in the 60 bracket -- arguably the best resto shaman there.

Don't forget the 15 resilience (at 64) that the BoA weapon brings. I'd say it comes out about even, and is a matter of preference.

While the midlevel brackets only get pops on scheduled days, the upper brackets play daily, so your experience is typical. If you enjoy the 60-64 bracket, you have a lot to look forward to if you decide to go for other brackets.

Much more than the bracket you choose, however, is the fact that you play together with friends. Bringing in a small squad to a BG will have far more of an impact than any gearing you could do, simply from the superior coordination. Which, win or loss, makes it a lot of fun.

2 more to add to the armory

Here are a few I saw tonight:

Chugolo @ Greymane - Game - World of Warcraft

Boomwentdave @ Nesingwary - Game - World of Warcraft

Not that they were great, but I thought the original purpose of this thread was to see what other 64 shammy's were geared with.

Dave

PS - How do the battlegroups work with twinks? I switched from BG9 Bloodlust on Tich to the Whirlwind Battlegroup being on Darrowmere. So do they combine battlegroups for twinks? I am starting to see the same ppl on both sides, with some new faces too every BG. From what I have seen, the BG seems to be growing, when I look up toons, I can see how new they are, and I have seen at least 5 new twinks for this bracket in the last week for allies. O guess some people might stop and twink to get geared up for the next bracket, and then turn XP back on and move up? I try to find the best DPS and stick with them in the BG. Some people in hte last day have had 4000+ PlayerScore PVP stats, which must mean they PvP their twink alot and do well? My PvP Gearscore is 1166, I thought I had good gear? :)

I am FINALLY FINISHED!!!

Fundar is complete!

He ends up with self buffed stats of:

8200 Health

6200 mana (wiz oil, potion)

539 resil (potion)

When he BG's, his health is around 10k, and the mana is about 7500, which is fine with me.

I built what I wanted, a hard to kill tank/healer (and by tank, I mean armor wise, not killing-DPS). He can run into a fight and spam heals and dispells, take a massive amount of damage, and turn the tide of many skirmishes. I know I stacked resil, but this was no accident. He can drop about 12-14 of his big heals before running out of mana, and if he crits that is almost full health too ppl at this level. So, he can keep 14 ppl up in a fight typically with this mana pool. Obviously, not everything is linear, and some fights the DPS and assists are better, and we lose. Some fights drag on, and I have to pop a mana pot, and still run OOM. But, for the most part, he has what it takes for me to get the job done. I go into the BG's with 20 of everything: Super Mana pots, Draenic Wisdoms (+300 mana with alch), Elixir of Stone Skin (+50 resil), and Greater Runes for the damage absorb (ty Bwappo), and the wiz oil too.

This might be the most fun I have ever had in PvP in WoW. It was not too difficult to build, a 2nd account was able to get everything I needed, the abilities at lvl64 are not so overpowering, the DPS is balanced for my toon at this level, and my heals work well. I have already made another Shammy to level to 85, as this guy will remain a 64 twink forever, :)

Thanks all for postings and replying to my stupid questions. I was able to build a very enjoyable toon and have hours of fun with him. I am recruiting friends to the bracket and I tell them how much fun it is.

Gratz! I may be re-rolling my DK soon though, maybe I'll make a mage or something. Not sure yet.

Hey, he looks really nice (checked up on armory)!

Got two questions:

1) Is resil-gems worth it instead of 30+stamina?

2) How did you farm for the rings? Is there any better way than waiting ages for alliances to pass by?

Fragments @ Lightning's Blade - Game - World of Warcraft

The following are things I still need...

Rocket Boots Lite (Engineering)

Shoulder Enchant (Scryer/Aldor rep)

Better weapon enchant

The Hellfire rings gemmed with int are such a miniscule upgrade and they're such a pain to get without an alliance friend, so I just stick with the ones I have.

I went with a more spellpower-based approach after my initial resilience stacking didn't work out too well. It was a huge damage cut and I still died fast even with the resil with rogues on me. I definitely prefer stacking int, but it's up to you.

Fundar @ Darrowmere - Game - World of Warcraft

1, you lose 5% stats for wearing that leather boots,

so compared to BiS mail boots, it's roughly

9 Int + 11 Int = 20 Intellect

11 Sta + 29 Sta = 40 Stamina

8 Spi +7 Spi = 15 Spirit

160 Armor

0.8% spell Cirt chance (after considering the Intellect gained)

vs

40 Resilience

2, your shield isn't BiS, switch it to Shield of the Void, you lose some int but gain 500 armor and 1% dodge. or GM shield.

note: armor is a stat too, don't just ignore armor.

Careful now, all mail gets you 5% int, not 5% stats. So we're really talking this:

9 + 11 = 20 Intellect

11 Stamina

8 Spirit

160 Armor

0.3% spell Crit chance from Int (not sure where the 0.8% came from above)

vs.

40 Resilience

I'd call that a wash. 20 Int is exactly one wrath gem, and I think you could argue that the rest of the stats equal another wrath gem. Pretty even.

Nice shield. I'd prefer a variant of the Outland Shield; 64 shamans have a couple of good options.
