20s Guide Index and FAQ - Read Before Posting New Threads

F2P accounts dont have access to Chromie Time (except some *very* old GFd accounts... dont ask) so you won't be able to use it. If you're a Vet account and cant access Chromie Time, chances are its because you dont have a main on your BNet thats hit level 50. Go do that.

I promise I read that and just forgot. :D All the guides are getting jumbled together in my tiny brain.

From a new player perspective, the distinction between “starter” F2P accounts and “linked” F2P accounts is not obvious and is muddled by “F2P” standing for starter, linked, and even vet accounts. Chromie Time or a lack thereof, which is a definitive distinction between types of FTPs, has a profound effect on the free to play experience. Hence, it would be groovy if the explanations of and distinctions between the different types of F2P accounts were made apparent in the OP, for beginners like me.

IMO, the different types of F2Ps deserve their own spoiler and should not only be alluded to under the “Chromie Time” spoiler. Instead, under the “Account” section, there should be a spoiler titled something like “WHAT DOES “F2P” MEAN?” that contains something like:

“F2P” or "FTP" each stand for “free to play”.
There are 3 types of F2P accounts, which are starter, linked, and veteran. The differences of which are yadda yadda yadda.
Chromie Time is yadda, yadda, yadda.
Starter accounts can’t access Chromie Time. Ever. Which means yadda yadda yadda.
Linked accounts and veteran accounts can access Chromie Time only if the Battlenet account has a character that’s level 50 or higher.

This is me trying to helpful. :D

On the topic of Chromie time for newer players, I'll quietly emphasize this final quote under General Gameplay in Chops' OP:
Chops said:
But if you're a vet and do have Chromie Time and find dungeons you have access to but can't que for it's because... well... you can't queue for every dungeon that you have access to. Some of them, you gotta walk in to manually like the olden days, when we used to trudge uphill (BOTH WAYS!) to Scarlet Monastery with a group of jackasses who had nothing better to do than LFG in Stormwind all day.

Some examples of dungeons that 20s can't queue for, but can manually enter [and get drops from]:
-The other half of Stratholme [entered through another, smaller side entrance] (which can drop the purple Rivendare sword),
-Shattered Halls (which for mail classes can drop Gauntlets of Desolation), and
-Shadow Labyrinth [which has a quest which awards a bracer with a socket].
Among other examples of such dungeons.

it's just a shame that current wow isn't what I look for in games at all.
I'm pretty sure that's all of us on this Site man. I play WoW exclusively for low Level Twinking and nothing else.

Hey all! Can someone confirm if I could turn XP off on my lev 20 twinks, resub the account in order to use the AH and trade, then turn XP back on AFTER the sub expires? Does allow me to queue the XPOn 20-29 bracket?

Someone had told me that even though you may be able to turn on XP after the sub expires, that you would need a GM to do something in order to put you back into the XPOn 20-29 bracket, and that its no guarantee they would do it. His point was that your toons needed to be XPOn before the sub expires.

Thanks.

Haven't twinked since TBC/WOTLK, so everything here is pretty new to me. I am going to try my hand at making a Veteran 20.

One thing that isn't very clear to me, is for dungeon drops, what is the most efficient way to obtain your gear?

Do you need someone that is a higher level than yourself to be able to obtain ilvl 28 gear from dungeons? What happens when being carried by a lvl 50 toon, do they drop appropriate gear for their level only?

youre not gonna get ilvl28s from dungeons, those are open world.

Get carried by a high level and youll get whats called "legacy loot" which means the whole of the bosses loot table is available to you but you only get two pieces per boss. Which is how casters (in particular) get ahold of various armor types to maximize their gear. Its a pain in the ass because TBC loot tables are HYUUUUUUGE. So you either get a very fast group of twinks and get personal loot or you drag yourself through with a high level toon and deal with legacy loot tables.

People have tried various ways to cheese loot and I find most of them to be more trouble than they're worth but one that does work is boosting with a high level to the boss you need, then logging out on the high level and soloing the boss on your twink. You'll get *both* legacy loot drops instead of just one.

Maybe add a line to the section on turning on xp before sub ends that mentions that when unsubbed, the xp vendor will happy take your gold and appear change you from one to the other, but queues still won't pop until turned on while subbed. I've known people who thought these threads were inaccurate because they expected the vendor to deny them in some way when unsubbed.

Maybe dumb question but I don't know where else to put it.

One of my f2p toons can queue for Random MoP dungeons.
Another can only queue for BfA.
Why is this? What do you have to do to unlock different dungs?
