20 Unholy DK Weapon Choice

I’ve recently made an Unholy DK and see a lot of DKs use Sul’Thraze over other 2h options. It seems this is the only class/spec to use it over the Baron 2h or CWR, so my question to more experienced players than I with this is simply why this choice. I would assume it’s because of the damage reduction proc and dot, but is it worth it over the 10% movement speed from Baron’s or raw strength gains from CWR socket options that other 2h classes seem to use?

Baron no longer gives 10% movement speed, it gives speed points.

Yea I don’t get the sul thing, I think people just like to farm/craft it. I’d probably go barons, it has speed and a heal. A few good options on here, the spear has good mast and can proc epic https://twinkdb.github.io/weapons

my guess is that dk's already have decent self-healing and a really, REALLY annoying slow so they don't benefit that much from movement speed (besides they can just grip someone anyway), so they compensate lack of real defensives with the damage reduction proc? maybe? Or maybe its just swag factor and they want to be snowflakes lol

I have Sul’athraze, probably will get baron’s and do some testing. It’ll put me at 30% movement speed so it’ll be a plus on that end.

I think most ppl are under the misguided impression that unholies mastery buffs suls proc damage when it does not. Also why not get one of the triple socket 2handers?

I tried CWR with 3 strength gems on frost and it was like 1 point of damage more, it was surprisingly low

hate bringer gets that extra 1 str from socket, what weapon did you use? barons? or the mastery 2hander from draenor?

Ah sorry, vs baron. I’m sure the Vers played a part in them being so close.

I like using baron over CWR. Feels better and you do notice the speed slightly. I do how ever want too get Sul and test.

That's very interesting. I had rotten luck farming the CWR, & have been running Baron's for All specs.
I also have a https://www.wowhead.com/item=24461/hatebringer?bonus=20 & a pile of https://www.wowhead.com/item=28222/reaver-of-the-infinites?bonus=20 to experiment with, but I always got the feeling that they're both avoided for the lack of Stam on them. None-the-less, the speed buff from Baron's feels so good, I don't mind the marginal str nerf from the lacking gam slots.

For what it's worth, I use CWR on DK and LRB on Ret.

Real MFs use the Warmonger.

In all honesty... you should have multiple sets that all benefit differently from each of the weapons... if you have a crit set.. use CW... if you want to run around in arena use LRB, if you have a verse set (like you should) use the Lasher. If you want to operate on the next level use the Warmonger.

They are all dependent on the set you are wearing.

Hey guys I just came back to 20s and I’m messing around with a DK and a paladin with a farm account trying to run two 20s through to get the Baron sword. whats the best method for farming it? I’m running a 50 carry toon with my 20s that cant trade atm.
