I feel like a poll is the absolute worst way to handle something like this.

It's questionable but given the timing of the event and the fact that it's not my place to say who is better than who I thought it was the best way to go. It's my hope that through the filtering of the post-vote process and the transparency of voting that the right people will be selected.

That being said I think having the community vote adds a really cool element to the entire situations

Teams can veto a player out by a majority vote, alternatively no one is forcing you to compete.
