Greetings Twink community! may i have a moment of your time in order to learn pvp?

INDO

Legend
^_^ hello everyone im just getting started with my F2PTwink life and i was doing some work/reading on understanding wow pvp tactic/strategy and how to get my UI(addon's/macros) and keybindings logically set up

the original reason i started writing this thread was to ask if this was a valid place to use as a main guid for setting up a pleasant and competitive wow pvp experience it seems to be a bit outdated and i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or links that might benefit the speed i can learn pvp and feel comfortable controlling my toon in-game

this is the guide(http://www.pvptutorial.com). before i start seriously listening to this guy(who quit years ago) if possible i would like the opinions of the players here who are much more experienced the myself(i have only bin playing for a few days and have never tried any sort of pvp as of yet) i have bin reading on wow for over a week now and am having trouble starting to comfortable play because i know that i have no idea what im doing and don't plan on running around aimlessly like a chicken with my head cut off >.< long story short is that i want a good UI set up and to know proper key binding methods and techniques(where and how to place simple key binds that wont confuse the $h*t out of me ) before i can start to Twink a toon or even learn basic pvp skills and ways to practice being efficient at whatever roll i happen to decide to practice pvp on first

note to any potential people willing to help me out...

i have absolutely zero skillz with most things computer related though im getting better(i have Curse and have downloaded the f2p chat ) the more i pour my life into it lol.

Here are my PC spec's
(if anyone needs to know what kind of computers i have in order to recommend the correct addons/pack's)
OS:Windows 7

Browser used for wow:Google chrome(pleas let me know if chrome is optimal for running wow for pvp)

my laptop computer spec's can be found here my current wow setup

I also have a 15 inch Sony VAIO(MODEL PCG-6X1L) i use for on the go type $h*t but i think it could be to small a screen for pvp but again i dont know much about online gaming in general -.- sadly i have no clue how to find the specs for this laptop and believe me i have tried lol. i wonder how the graphics card and performance will work for pvp on both laptops ^.^ im in need of a collage lvl computer course for the basic's of gaming theory lol.

I assume ill be using a light weight setup  any help determining my laptop's ability to use addons well would be very helpful indeed :D

last but not least... macros are a foreign language to me as is most of the wow language/terminology iv bin trying so hard to decipher for the last week lol. ^.^ i would like to know what peoples opinion on macro "use and abuse" is and if they are as helpful or as hurtful as i have hear they can be???

P.S. im sorry for my blog like post/thread or whatever you want to call this mess of words above lol. its just the way i am i guess i never intended for this to be half as long lol. my apology's for taking up your time and hope that you will relate to my post in some way and find it within you to try and help a Pearson in need(me :p) willing to learn about the game(WoW) that i cant wait to beginning to really understand and become competitive at!

thanks for any help you decide to lend
contact me with a PM on TI or through email:jade.kush@yahoo.com
also if you have Skype and would rather help me through voice chat pleas leave you Skype name below and ill give you a ring :)

Learn how to backstrafe. This is a pretty good video to learn from:

How to Backstrafe - YouTube

This is a quote from Mocha's Rogue Guide. I don't know if you play a rogue but it might come in handy:

In order to ensure a safe return, the use of Scroll Clicking can give you an advantage.

Scroll clicking is a way of picking up flags, selecting targets on raid frames or any other action in game that would produce a sign instead of the mouse wheel (such as a gear). In order to do this, all you need is a mouse with a mouse wheel. Instead of clicking on the flag you can activate scroll clicking and scroll your mouse wheel up and down while mousing over the world on your screen. As the flag is about to be dropped, I am spinning my wheel back and forth while moving my mouse cursor over as much of the screen as I feel the flag may drop in.

Every small rotation of the mouse wheel will "click" on the flag or object. In theory, all you have to do is mouse over the flag while spinning the wheel and the flag will be clicked.

To activate scroll clicking, do so in the key binds panel:

Key Bindings--> Targeting Functions--> Interact With mouseover
ScrollClick.png

Bind one to Mouse Wheel Scroll Up and the other to Mouse Wheel Scroll Down.

Note: in doing this you may lose your bindings for zoom. I would suggest switching them to Alt+Mousewheel Up and Alt+Mousewheel Down.

That's all there is to scroll clicking. You can practice it on chairs, raid frames, targets on your screen etc. but be cautious as "clicking" an enemy player will toggle auto-attack on.

There's a lot of other stuff you can learn. I'm no pro myself.

Good luck!

^_^ oh i made a long and some what funny signature and thought any readers might want to give me there thoughts on my "Crazy goal's" lol.

^.^ and i realize that my idea/vision of rolling an extreme f2p twink that never losses a pve or pvp battle let not to mention die in any other way(ie. drowning or falling) is a bit hardcore to say the least but at some point i plan to make a serious attempt at planing/attempting a lvl20 toon that never has bin killed(>.< not sure whether it will be on a pvp server though i would love to attempt such a daring feat) but i must learn much about wow before i even think of selecting a race/class or server to attempt my goal and would enjoy if i could a few others who would be willing to roll up and seriously play toons under such drastic circumstances to see who could pull it off for the longest lol.

P.S. im assuming this has bin tried before if anyone knows of any links on info or videos reverent to this style of play post pleas some links or comments with any other help concerning my many questions's/issues

-.- id like to thank anyone in advance who can bare to put up with someone as annoying as myself long enough to reply to this thread lol.
i would prefer an email or PM but beggars cant be choosers so feel free to post were the hell you damn pleas hehe i just think it would give me more replies/help if people reading my very long post's didnt have to read people responses to my posts and also so i dont scare people away from posting due to other people writing responses below :p just an idea... but as i said before post below if you would rather do so i will enjoy the help where ever it is written lol.

i leave you with this funny quot i found in the guide im asking your opinions on lolz

"PVP is a matter of overcoming your own weaknesses while exploiting the weaknesses of others. If you suck, it's because you can't comprehend the previous sentence."

^_^ im ready to learn from my mistakes but first i just want to learn so i make less mistakes in the first place :) oh and here's a few other quotes that might make you understand why im doing all this before really beginning serious play beside's the fact that i like to acheave Mise en place (to fully prep) before executing the dish lol.(excuse the metaphor im a chef :p)

Hunters give 0 cents about your skills though, so beware of them.

Re: Greetings Twink community! may i have a moment of your time in order to learn pvp

Here's a few things to do improve yourself in PvP that I've personally found to be helpful:

1. Learn how to Backstrafe correctly.
2. Scroll Clicking for Flag Pickups.
3. Unbind the S key. Backstrafe if you need to move backwards.
4. Use Right Click to look around. Left+Right Click to move around.
5. Change your A and D keys to Strafe Left/Right.
6. You don't need any special UI to pvp correctly.
7. These are my keybinds for spells:

Basically I only use up to #'s 1-5. Then I have Q, E, S, R, F, T, G as my other keybinds. And of course I have Ctrl set up on those keys too(Ctrl+1-5, Q, E, S, R, F, T, G). You could do the same thing with alt or Shift, but Ctrl works best for me. This is very helpful. This is probably the key to PvP, not being a clicker and using keybinds that you can memorize. Oh and I also have my trinket set to F1 and F2. Then I have my Aura Mastery set up for F3, F4, F5.

This means I only use A, W, D to move but A and D are set to Strafe Left/Right; so I cannot Keyboard Turn. Any other kind of movements I use my Mouse to move/look around.

There are plenty of good BG/Arena Addons to get and I am sure you could look that up easily.

Re: Greetings Twink community! may i have a moment of your time in order to learn pvp

Welcome, hardly to say anything more in here :p

I think this thread makes a nice guide or basic "I'm new and want to learn pvp" info thread :)

Perhaps good to add that you are also having tools like the world of warcraft armory and sites like wowhead to seek gear out and the rankings list here in the f2p section on TI.

Re: Greetings Twink community! may i have a moment of your time in order to learn pvp

Hi

i find some settings in WoW more important than some addons.

Interface Options:
  1. COMBAT - Target of Target - Always
  2. RAID PROFILES - Display Class Colors & Display Health Text Health Remaining & No Borders
  3. COMBAT - Class Colors in Nameplates & Cast Bars on Nameplates
  4. (Shift + M ) or Shift + Scoreboard Click to open the Minimap
  5. CAMERA - Max Camera Distance
and set the VIEWING DISTANCE in the Graphics options as high as your PC can handle it.

Re: Greetings Twink community! may i have a moment of your time in order to learn pvp

Learn to use shift and scroll wheels... my cone of cold is shift scroll up and nova is shift scroll down, on my rogue in stealth shift scroll up and shift scroll down is my sap macro, for my warrior shift scroll up and shift scroll down are my battle stances, pally shift scroll up and shift scroll down is my instahoj macro, for hunter it's wing clip etc... basically those are very easy to use and very easy to spam. Also use focus macros and you'll be 1337. I use a macro that upon first use counter spells my focus, on second use polymorphs my focus and thirst polymorphs my focus. It's quite useful to know how to use those macros =P
