Does Chaos Bolt do more damage than Aimed Shot?

I bet it's best case mastery

Ok... so i got the two trinkets in lunarfall valley, the 46 int proc and 80 mastery on-use. Cast on the eleks there.

The mastery trinket gave me 79, not 80 (character sheet) and the CB i cast did 829 damage.
(mastery % went from 26 to 66, read from 13+up to 13 to 33+up to 33)

The int trinket gave 46 int, (44 + 5% i guess) and the CB i cast did 882 damage.

Those were only single casts, i'm not going to do a ton cuz it's a lot of cooldown and I got gear to get. So from ONE (not enough) cast of each it looks like roughly 1 int ~ 2 mastery. So unless you can get that ratio, int is "better".

Again, completely unverified and not near enough test, just an example. Mastery is random so more testing needed.

edit- OK, bugged me bout the random part so went back and did another, only hit for 754. SO the 829 was not "bad" RNG.
Did one more just to be sure and that one was 825. none of the three got close to the +Int cast. Still not enough testing.

Question: How much extra range does an usual MM twink has?
Around 10 yards more.. With Elkk it will be over twice that distance more.. Not the "usual" mm twink.. One that gears full mastery

I am fine tuning a lvl14 atm to see how to balance dmg & range.. Will provide data when completed

For a Destro lock, Mastery, Int and Crit are you main priority of stats(But if you value fast casting, haste is epic for Chaos Bolt casting). Especially Mastery, it stacks better than other classes and the damage tends to flacuate alot. As for Crit, it does the base damage of Chaos Bolt, while Mastery tends to juice it up. But having high Mastery but low Crit will make a huge disadvantage because your base Chaos Bolt's base damage is low.
Affliction Locks have prob the highest Mastery stack in the class, can reach as far as 80s%

Sooo literally every stat possible? Lol

Not every stat, only vers isnt counted. (More I look into it, yeah guess it is every stat.) But I rounded them up like that for a reason, Mastery is the 1st one, crit is the 2nd one. Those 2 are a must.

SO i got some trinkets and took some time today to test a little bit... not great tests cuz I'm still killing eleks and not a practice dummy, and the randomness of the mastery just doesnt allow me (nor do i care enough) to be too precise.

https://www.wowhead.com/item=118230/smoldering-cerulean-stone?bonus=6691 was only like 32 INT proc, but it refreshed itself a couple times. 10 seconds is a pretty small window tho.

https://www.wowhead.com/item=111948/gruuks-evil-eye?bonus=6691 worked for caster, but even giving me 20% extra crit the damage of CB was lowest of the three.

https://www.wowhead.com/item=108902/armored-elekk-tusk?bonus=6691 hit about as hard as the int trinket, but is A LOT of mastery so that's a thing... but on use so easily best.

I already gemmed int/vers on my toon, so it's hard to say what stacking mastery could accomplish... but it's also impossible with TBC gear. INT was always best in comparable ratio, by far. Crit was meh as suspected. NOt throwing numbers since they will vary depending on setup and mastery "roll" anyway, but consistently enough to me to suggest int>mastery>vers>crit.

JUST for max CB damage. The elekk tusk being on use just makes it overall the best option, IMO, cus the windows are too small with the procs to reliably get result. Assuming PvP trinket as other, tho... 2x DPS gave better damage, obviously.

I believe the highest soulfire i got was 1800 non-crit, using int proc and elekk trinket together. CB was maybe 1400.

On trash mobs outside my garrison. And my artifact has zero relics... like I said, just simple comaprison. ;)

edit- just took my poopie agi/stam gemmed ilvl 34 arti hunter out to the same mobs, 1335 aimed shot crit was my best.
(24 agi proc trinket and elekk trinket combined)

How are you imagining then people are getting to 3300+... just RNG?

Buffs and zerker? I really cant say, sorry. That 1800 non-crit would be 2700 crit... with zerker i guess that's 3500?

Plus the mastery lottery? Feel free to test for yourself, like I said just a simple comparison.

edit- also not sure how much everything buffs up to 29 in BG, you'll have higher base INT, maybe higher spell damage too?

edit2- @JadeFire I tried a mastery proc & elekk trinket combo, got worse results than the int/elekk. Mastery up to 82%.

Did a couple more with the int/elekk combo and got this, very next cast had a 1376 CB (not the best). RNG is RNG.

(if that tree is susceptible to fire damage or something, I dunno. Wouldnt be surprised... wolf could be shadow-resistant)

That haste % is hurting my soul.

Conflagrate helps... ;)

Just tryin to get the biggest number without being the glassest of cannons... haste is a waste as far as that endeavor goes.
