I was always curious about this, because I've never found a need to do this myself unless I have an urgent matter at hand. Could someone explain why a lot of big names do this when the tide of the BG is not in their favour? I feel like they miss out on some of those really sweet victories when you make that amazing comeback. Is it to save face? To have a perfect win ratio? Enlighten me please!

I also added a vote thing, which I just noticed this site has which is neat. Would be interesting to see the stats on this.

With a 2 month old baby, things come up(and out) pretty often. If mom decides to /afk on life for 10-15 mins, I'll be handed a screaming baby. Doesn't matter if I'm working, premading, eating.. this is the way.

Unintentionally, I sit afk pretty often. Usually I can jiggle the mouse before a debuff, but it happens.

Regarding intentionally typing /afk- very rare, but I'd be lying if I said I never did it.

I run in to so many rogues and hunters like Igy while soloq, people that don't know how to play wsg in a 15 year old game. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that, I'm at the point of my life where I can recognize how valuable my time is, and can quantify it.

So when there's an enemy team turtling with the stronger team/comp; When there's rogues playing defense rather than doing anything relevant; When there's hunters that can't find their way out of mid, even after being on xpoff for 8 years..

They get to do what they love (farm hks, waste time) while actively preventing me from doing what I want (return flags, win games, not waste time). The issue is these people don't care about winning wsg, they think their score at the end of the game is relevant. Sometimes it's too much, and the better choice is to not reward stupidity

I don't condone afking if you're gonna lose but people gonna tilt. The only time I'd afk is if the games getting stalled out or if I gotta dip. Pretty much either safe spotting in pugs or an O that is D lmao

TL;DR: Some games there are just not enough twinks on both sides that the game is interesting, especially if the game is being drawn out. Also, I can go play a different bracket if the games aren't good.

There's a few reasons I /afk out of games:
  • Since the East/West split, a lot of games just don't fill up.
Even after 5 minutes the game will be 7v10 with like 2 twinks on each side. In these games, regardless of side, I usually AFK out since they often play out where the team with less people can't pick the flag even. And I don't mind getting deserter in these games because it probably means that time of day isn't popping for 19s.
  • If I have the flag and nobody comes at me for ~5+ minutes, and if my team has less than 3 people in there base for ~5+ minutes.
Maybe it's the milennial in me, but I need the game to be moving to enjoy it. The reason I can't stand Arathi Basin is sometimes I just sit Lumber Mill for 28 minutes and nothing happens. When games of WSG feel that way, they're even less enjoyable because there's nothing to end it. (If I am in the mood, I'll go offense with the flag, but FCs in this bracket don't do much damage wheras in 29s it isn't hard to kill an EFC as an FC shaman or mage).
  • In 19s there's a lot of 3-5 person defenses.
It's pretty much impossible for a team with only 2 or 3 twinks to kill an FC when he has 3 people with him on defense. I usually play these games out, but if it's late at night I typically just /afk out and go to sleep. If an enemy team has 1 pally, 1 druid, 1 mage, 1 priest on defense and my team has a Shaman / Warrior twink and a bunch of levelers on offense...not much we can really do. It's fun to chase ole Johneffer around the ToT for 40 minutes even in a loss, but I am not always in the mood for it (especially at like 1:30am).

I'm currently working 1 week on, 2 weeks off (but on call). I've had to afk out of longer games a few times the last few weeks. When the call comes, I just gotta dip.

Ive done it cause I have to deal with stuff in RL.. But Ill also afk out if alliance is hopelessly unable to deal with safe spots and horde are stalling to farm hks.

no, u seem to only have a problem with him.
yes, because you think its a huge issue. tell us. so we can see too. its 1 button to printscreen and 2 to make a thread of safespotting in action. ur just looking for attention at this point.

Who is him?

Im just here to be apart of the conversation.. not to be assaulted by some nut sucking hoplite.

And I guess if I have to say it here: All Cheating = Cheating.

I imagine you have fondling duties to get back to.. Run along..

u know. hes not on this post. ill be honest I got lost. ur all over this forum trying to call out jwl. ive never played a game with the dude. don't know him at all. I just don't like that your calling people out but cant do a single minute of actual time to produce evidence. the problem is you are afraid to be ridiculed by the forum for what you consider cheating. you wont even give this forum what you consider safespotting.

Wow.. you and that guy.. Ego shit is intense.

I could care less about "him". For that matter, Ive never called him out.. He admitted to it then edited his comment.

For me I have only ever left a BG because I got summoned out to do a gurubashi grab once.

I enjoy the games with only a few twinks on either side, gives me good practice with my running routes

However, I can see that RL comes in and affects stuff like that. Though I think what I mean is like, when groups of people from the same guild all afk out at the same time. It always seems to happen right after the other team caps their first flag, can't just be convenient timing I think.

I like what you said earlier Walle, about having valuable time and knowing where to spend it. I think though that you might be missing out on some really amazing comeback matches or even the chance at some good fights! I think I enjoy 1v1's in wsg the most, and I've only ever seen someone respect a 1v1 one time.

Speaking of this irrelevant topic I just brought up, I would love to get some 1v1 practice in sometime in the BG scene. So if you see me and want to 1v1 I would totally be down for some duels! Just hit me with a /point /flex and the msg will get across! :D

EDIT: Also I wanted to add if anyone doesn't know. The poll is Anonymous, it will only show the numbers and percent of people who voted =D

Where did I edit my comment? And more importantly, why would I admit to something everybody knows I dont do?
LMAO you're so full of shit man.

Honestly my name/presence in the twink community is really big; I've been an active poster here for years and everybody knows I am cocky about my skills as a flag carrier. And people dislike me for that reason.
With that said, people would JUMP at the opportunity to expose me for cheating.
Seriously, if I ever was caught safespotting, it'd be immediately posted and thrown on the forums and twink discord channels.

Unfortunately, I do not safespot.

Once again. Feel free to expose me. https://www.twitch.tv/jwl1996/videos
I'll even help you out lol. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/535291553?
this is the closest thing I have to "safespotting" (I put that in quotes because this actually isnt safespotting at all, since I am attackable during the entire jump). Trust me man...I knew how to get on the tippy top of both Horde and Alliance bases. I know "glitch spots" where fear pathing will throw you into a terrain underneath the map...I know pretty much every trick in the book yet I play on a completely even playing field. Way too many people consider me the best flag carrier for anyone to take your "Jwl cheats" routine seriously

Delaying the inevitable with the stacked opposing team/better comp/lack of comp, whatever it is. It's just such a waste of time to not win quick if you have superior comp or to delay for as long as possible when you know there's a 0 chance win probability. Icing on the cake is stacked team spams bombs or consumes or just griefs in general.

The majority of my afks are when other twinks rub salt in the wound.

People who AFK games are only setting themselves up for failure.
Of course, we have IRL priorities and need to leave games when necessary, but when you limit yourself to only playing games that you know you'll win...you're never going to improve.

When you believe you have the possibility to win, try to win.
When you feel hopeless and that your efforts are of no use, practice jumps. Do this in winning games too; You wont get better trying new jumps under pressure so practice when you can.

you arent the only horde druid that safe spots buddy.. aint always talking about you in a convesation.. holy fuck.. the ego on this guy.
