19 Quick Start Gearing Guide [BfA]

Nice guide. I would recommend adding to the feral section regarding fcing. If they want to fc they should have a second pair of boots with 'minor speed' to get a bonus 10% speed in travel/cat form.

You could also make a quick note for crit>haste seeing as crit is pretty important to have a decent amount of on a feral.

I've added a big explanation on how speed enchants work at the beginning and also to several character blurbs (including feral). Also added crit to feral's desired stats.

I've also gone ahead and cleaned up some visual things like the doubleposts. Added a few more items (Sylvan cloak for FCing druids, inherited insignia). I may add a separate section that goes over other sets that every twink should consider. Things like having a FC set, two sets of boots/cloaks with appropriate speed enchants, glass cannon vs balanced, inherited insignia vs other trinkets, Catseye ultra goggles, weapon swapping, high cooldown swapping (engy belt and AGM being common examples).

Maybe I missed something, but how do you apply the +2 Int +2 stam to legs?

They can only be applied to the BoA legs. So with http://www.wowhead.com/item=54447/enchanted-spellthread as an example...

Apply the spellthread with an 80+ char to the heirloom legs and mail it. If your legs scale to 110, their ilvl will be too high on any toon level 101+. You can either use a toon from 80-100 to apply the enchant, or go to the vendor that sells heirlooms and buy one there. That copy of the heirloom will only scale up to 60, so there won't be an ilvl problem.

If you want to use BoE legs, you'll have to settle for Ironscale Leg Armor (4stam/2dodge).

Secondaries

Theres a lot of classes/specs covered in this guide. I'm going to be going through and adding stat priorities as I see them, but many are preference and I don't know every class. If you see any stat priority that you think is wrong/misleading, add a comment with why and I'll look into updating it. This short section is going to help with HOW I'm going about figuring out generic stat priorities. You can use that logic to adjust your own gear.

  • FC resto druid (or anyone's FC set) is unique in that it focuses on pure defense with stam/verse/armor. Basically every other class/spec is going to focus on a mix of output (damage or healing or both) and survival.
  • Primary stats (agi/int/str) are almost always the most important. Excluding FC druid, you'll always want pieces with your primary stat. That means pass on Green Lens if you don't use int, and find necks/rings that have your primary stat. There will be a few exceptions where enough verse makes a piece better (like how Master Engineer's Goggles are better than heirloom helms) - but for the most part, each primary stat is going to be worth 2+ verse.
  • Verse is king. Verse is the best secondary for basically every class/spec AFAIK. It directly contributes to your damage and healing. It affects procs like Elemental Force. It also reduces incoming damage. Its too good to pass up on. Verse is almost always going to be on top. So the real question is...haste or crit for second place?
  • Haste isn't flashy. The numbers aren't bigger. You're not going to cut your cast time in half. Lower GCDs aren't sexy. But its consistent. And any extra time you get means you can be moving faster or casting your next spell faster. Basically anyone who has a cast time, DoTs/HoTs, channels, or a GCD that can be reduced will like haste. Haste also increase resource generation for a few classes, notably Rogue Energy and Hunter Focus. In short fights, you likely won't get any extra attacks in, but you might be able to hit that SS or arcane shot that much faster.
  • Crit is flashy, but unlike PVE where crit is 200%, crit is only 150% in pvp. That means many classes don't want to stack it or rely on it. That being said, 150% is still big numbers. Its still a clutch heal or amazing aimed shot. For classes that rely on burst to focus down an enemy, getting a lucky crit may be the big difference. So something like a rogue is going to prioritize crit over haste, as a couple of crits means a target will go down in a cheap shot. Theres also a couple of classes (fire mage, destro lock) that may want crit due to the way it affects their abilities.

So those are the basics. So a general stat priority will probably look like Primary > Verse > Haste > Crit. Then we look for classes that might prefer crit, or those that might not care. Combat rogues want crit. Boomkins probably prefer haste for casting, DoT ticks, and GCDs - but the argument could be made for crit for nuking an enemy focus target with starsurges.

So don't take any stat priorities from this guide as gospel. Figure out your class mechanics. Look at your playstyle. Figure out if you prefer something nonstandard, or if I've missed something completely. Let me know.

I have been trying to get slither scale stuff on my pala but i really just dont know how to get the stuff. IF i join a LFG it only drops plate so i tried going there and soloing but that only drops plate too.

How do i get this stuff to drop for a non-mail user?

You need a friend to go through as a level 19 mail user and they can trade you the gear. The BoE gloves are rare, but I think can drop for anyone - so soloing a bunch of the Druids of the Fangs and resetting can help with that. Or buy them on the AH. The more 19 mail users you have, the more likely you are for someone to get dupes to trade to you. Find some other 19s who want to spam WC for loot. People will be especially helpful if you offer to trade them the leather gloves if they drop.

I forgot to mention that under the holy pally section. I'll make sure to add that. In the meantime, any dungeon plate gear is OK enough to start BGs.

but sir, i don't have any friends -_- I have great gear already im @ 180 int (w flask) and 170 stam 40 vers just trying to get BiS stuff down now. Thanks for the info :D
[doublepost=1533622272,1533622046][/doublepost]Also, i play enh shaman allot and I would contest that more survivable stats is far better than full agi on gear. TBH most the dmg comes from ele force procs w 2 chances per it (flame dmg can also proc) and the abilities don't scale that well w agi. consistantly almost 40% of dmg on my ele sham is from weapon procs.

Discord, in-game communities, and guilds! Or be rich and offer to pay someone a bunch of gold per piece you get. They don't even have to be on your server. Or create a second account, make a 19 hunter/shaman, xp lock, and then dualbox until you get it.

Hey, two things I would like to add to this thread.

Please rename Gift of verse to "Gift of Versatility" or at least Gift of Vers because it was hard for me to search auction house for it because I've never heard of it before.

Second, the ring you can get from your Warsong vendors "Legionnaire/Protector's Band" is a very good ring for agility characters. For my rogue at least. Its -1 agi and -1 stam from grandfathered Signet of Argus and -5 crit from the heirloom ring but it only costs 1 mark of honour which is 1 BG win on your main so its very easy to get. Unfortunately its unique-equipped but still a great and fast ring otherwise.

Also I would just buy the enchant "Word of Versatility" for ring enchants. Since all enchants are scaled down, you can get away with cheaper enchants. I'm not sure if its scaled down to a fraction level that you can't see but my assumption is they're rounded to the numbers shown on the enchant rather than displaying hidden fractions.

Its on my to-do list to link the actually enchants instead of some of the more casual names. Part of the problem is like you've mentioned with the "Word of Versatility" enchant - theres 4 enchants that give +1 verse right now (and 2 more coming with BfA). So I don't want to link only one (perhaps word is cheap on one server, but maybe breath is cheaper on another server). I also don't want to link the 6 possible enchants that could all be the same. For now - I tried to name the enchants where there was one option, and then name the desired stats where there are multiple options. You'll need to cross-reference those stats with Swoops' enchant scaling spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...Hsjw9Rs6uprLUykbHJE2wQy6s/edit#gid=1909777867

Kind of a pain, I know.

The WSG agility ring isn't bad to grab real quick while starting out. It is outclassed by both the blue BG crate ring and the blue dungeon satchel ring (as well as the shipyard heirloom ring). I also think it has the same stats as the unscaled argas ring (though I can't quite remember what it ends up at now). It would generally fall under the "Any" category - good for quickly gearing up, but probably not worth mentioning as the BiS are fairly easy to get (though have RNG).

And verse ratings are whole numbers. That rating is converted into a decimal for the % verse that you get. But Word/Gift/Breath/Binding all offer the same 1 verse.

Just want to note for the mail users. I ran WC as a shaman with a hunter and between the two of us I was able to get 3 pieces in 1 run. I bought the gloves on AH for 15k, and like a rookie I equipped them before the 7 stam enchant!!! Guess i will buy another pair.

Yeah, I tried to plaster a big "DONT EQUIP BOE GLOVES BEFORE THEY ARE REINFORCED" in a couple of places. But its bound to happen. If you can solo the packs of mobs (shaman might be possible), then the gloves aren't too bad to farm. Better if you can stealth though.

I feel like I was exceptionally lucky with the drops. my shaman is here. enchants are little off, but i just hit 19 last night. https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/bleeding-hollow/Hazshock
