Music and Intelligence? (Sensitive Topic)

Rap is a rape of music. Rap lovers are rape lovers.
Simple as fuck.
Wanna better future - just don't listen shit.
*Puts on tinfoil fedora* The reason mainstream music these days is full of degeneracy and emotional immaturity is to create a dumbed-down, desperate population because the globalist corporate types want to drive down the cost of wages. Big Pharma loves people like Lil Xan. Entertainers have been the brainwashing tools of governments for thousands of years.

As far as rap/hip-hop goes, emcees were far more intelligent sounding before gangsta rap ruined everything. Now rappers can just google what rhymes with what and put out a bunch of nonsensical garbage. Mainstream rappers don't even have a message of their own these days.

I'd say artists like Joyner Lucas give pretty good messages are are somewhat mainstream. Maybe not on the radio, but who tf listens to the radio these days.

Btw I’d recommend listening to k.a.a.n. He’s one of my favorite artists out right now.

And yea there are good artists out right now prob, just I haven’t uncovered too many of them. But if you want to listen to some artists that you may or may not have listened to : One be lo - sleepwalking, Kaan - LTN, Searching, Bout it bout it, Epidemic - Dope fiendz, Blu - Amnesia, dancing in the rain, in remembrance of me, the world is, AZ - Wanna be there, Capital Steez - Emotionless Thoughts, Free the robots, Dead Prez, Black Petunia, InVision, XV - Wish you were here, Eyedea - Even shadows have shadows, Atmosphere - Between the lines, Blue Scholars - Blink, The underachievers - The dualist, Binary star - Honest expression, Common - Faithful, Cunninglynguists - Nothing to Give, Caved in, Deltron 3030 - Time keeps slipping... There’s more out there and more that I’d prob recommend, but I’ve been too lazy to sift through shit and add stuff to my playlist. But yea, some of these artists may be inactive, but it shouldn’t take away from the art they left behind. The active ones include : Kaan, Binary star, The underachievers. Some more may be active, but I’ve been lazy and have just been practicing rapping kaan songs. So might start trying to discover new artists/uncover previous ones.

Btw, those who say hip-hop sucks, the likely explanation is that ignorance is bliss. For those of you who actually try to listen to some of these artists’ songs mentioned above who come in thinking rap is shit, hopefully I can change your mind. Also, if you listen to these and want more artists, I’d suggest Mobb Deep, Jedi Mind Tricks, Eminem (infinite album), Big L (Lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous album), Ugly heroes (ugly heroes album), Apollo Brown (trophies album), Ini (center of attention album), People under the stairs (OST album), O.C. (Word... Life album), Masta ace - disposable arts album, Ra the rugged man (legends never die album), Immortal Technique (Revolutionary vol 2 album), Nujabes (modal soul)..... the list goes on and on.

Wrong on all accounts really.

I've noticed King Crimson has been trending lately, liking your profile pic. Prog should have been a category in their 'list of genres', imo. I would wager it would rank fairly well overall.

Opinions and likes/dislikes are like a******s, everyone has one!
I also question the authors, "advanced educational influences".

Big Pharma loves people like Lil Xan.

Lil Xan is anti-xanax, plus most bars on the streets are pressed nowadays so idk how much is actually going to these companies. Though I do agree that these new rappers are promoting drug abuse like never before.

I listen to the top 7 of that list more than anything. Very little pop or country. Some rap, mostly still stuck in 90s hip hop in that section.

What I found odd was how low Punk showed up on that list. I do love myself some good old punk and hardcore punk. Maybe I'm just partially retarded?

I feel the study was very broad and didn't provide much substance. I'd argue this was done by people who don't actually know anything about music.

His delivery is so similar to Kendrick, but he's not bad at all. I recently moved from the city to an incredibly small air-force town and almost everyone seems to listen to the radio and imitate these people. Small towns are funny like that. I feel like I've gone back a few decades sometimes. I heard Limp Bizkit the other day and was appalled.

I remember watching an interview with him that I didn't get too much from. I tried listening to his music, but it seems like the exact same style as the sad boi/drug addict stuff. As far as what's on the streets, it depends where you're at. There's always some vet or old addict willing to trade stuff straight from the pharmacy.

Gangsta rap isn't what ruined rap. Assuming we're thinking of the same "gangsta rap" being people like NWA, and a bunch of others 90s hip hop. Nas came after NWA and I believe he's a very concious/intelligent rapper but he's still lower than most people on the diagram. I don't really think hip hop was "ruined" until recently with the mumble rap but we still have plenty of lyrical rappers ; Isiah Rashad, Montana of 300, Cole, Kendrick and more.

I would like to see a hip hop only diagram regarding the subject though.

Mumble rap is not hip hop, it’s a seperate genre or sub-genre at this point

People who listen to mumble rap aren’t listening to the lyrics, it’s a catchy flow and beat to just turn off to

Yeah i dont think hip hop is ruined, thats why i left names of lyrical rappers. But for the sake of argument I can see why they'd consider it ruined now. Im not gonna act like i dont listen to some of it though..

I disagree. Before the privileged Dr Dre pretended to be a gangster. Before the East-Coast born, college student, drama-club member and actual fucking actor Tupac Shakur pretended to be gangster (way later of course), hip-hop was in a better place lyrically speaking. Not to say that any of these gangster rappers couldn't spit. Snoop is a great lyricist, but the content of the lyrics.......was there a song about drinking and driving in hip-hop before gin n juice? Is gin n juice about drinking and driving? Does anyone actually know what the fuck that song is even about? I've listened to it so many times and I still don't know. That's kind of my point though. It wasn't about the music so much as it was about just being gangsta and that's the problem. Gangsta rappers even dissed so-called "studio-rappers". . . It's like everyone saw the pretty much normal guys rapping and went "meh" then saw the guys acting like complete assholes and went "that's for me". These guys were the equivalent of cannibal corpse fans calling anything that isn't gory death metal "pussy faggot shit" . The positivity came back into the spotlight from time to time but the negativity and just straight up toxic elements of hip-hop remain more prevalent ever since.

If you've actually been around punk shows and have known people in that scene, there uh......well, a few tacos shy of a combination platter #Notall.

The music one chooses to listen to is not indicative of their intelligence. One's intelligence will be a significant constituent for the music they contrive to enjoy while facts will show common music interests among certain groups.

Since we're on the topic, race also plays a role in SAT averages, with Asians on top, and blacks coming in last. But, I digress.

[doublepost=1521103657,1521103532][/doublepost] I get down with actual 80s synth:

what's my score?

nvm, i see the electronic category. close to average seems about right for me.

Imho the way "gangsta" rap ruined the rap-game was by introducing an unreal amount of fakeness into the mainstream music and everyday life. Someone already brought up NWA, well, the difference between the group members' backgrounds and their lyrics is not a secret. Yet they got away with it.

The hip-hop was quickly growing in popularity, and became a very desirable instrument for manipulating people (quoted post). Not to mention that things which somehow become mainstream, quickly downgrade and lose any sense because of the need to satisfy desires of millions of people, whose views can often contradict.

What we hear nowadays is the result of the fake being accepted and even praised upon by a majority of people. Voice is autotune (fake), so-called artists propagate drugs just to get high/get by (escape from the real world to the fake one), etc.

Everything written above is just a humble opinion from a ukrainian's pov. Glabalisation absolutely seized my country, and nowadays youth in my country listens to "sub-genre called mumble rap" almost exclusively. Not gonna lie, I feel like conscious hip-hop fans are represented by just me. I keep wondering whether the corporations/governments will succeed in raising pure consumer/materialistic generation and what is my place in the world occupied by such people.

Peace.

P.S. I recommend this channel of D-Nice to everyone. It contains some very interesting (at least to me) interviews: https://www.youtube.com/user/dnicetv/videos The one ft. Special Ed is truly on point.
