Music and Intelligence? (Sensitive Topic)

So to make myself feel smarter, I looked up a study showing what types of music are common among school grades. To my dismay, the results made me feel a little stupid. And others made me feel a bit smart. Anywho, what do you guys think about this?

Do you agree with this data? Do you disagree? Do you think the education system is flawed and needs changes to truly determine intelligence?

lol @ nickelback and ben folds being on opposite sides of the retard spectrum

but im curious how this study was conducted
maybe i should read over the article in full in stead of looking at pretty colored diagrams

the positioning of some of these genres seems suspiciously biased though
look @ me all by myself with my genius-inducing beethoven vynils
where is the bach & mozart love?

Doesn’t really mean anything, artists that are popular in poorer/less educated neighborhoods are in the low spectrum, and vice versa.

I used to think I was too smart for a catchy tune, but it just made me a snobby dumbass. Now that I moved on from that phase in my life, I enjoy the duck out of both some weird avante garde shit as well as catchy tunes like 24k magic.

these guys don't seem to have understood the concept of median

lil wayne lol

Doesn't really mean anything tbh I like classical and some trap and house genres but I know that 2+2=3

Instrumental music has been proven to make it easier to focus on a task. It's interesting how prevalent psychedelic rock is for middle-to-high performers.

It's a meta-analysis.

Correlation does not imply causation. Something, something ice cream sales and murder rates. The article (nonacademic meta-analysis) attempts to conflate SAT scores with music preference. While this could be a factor there are more significant factors at play (social-economical).

SAT does not measure general intelligence. Look up the history of IQ testing (dam Frenchies) as to why it came about.

I could go on and on about this stuff but I'm lazy and like not using my brain ;)

source: I'm a retard. I have a BS in biochemistry & psychology and a masters in biological/developmental psychology. Talk dirty to me about emotional intelligence if you want my number.
