First round of testing with impure F2P Shop Purchases:
I bought the https://www.wowhead.com/item=112326/warforged-nightmare mount on a brand new Starter Edition account. The mount itself gets auto-added to your collection, however, the https://www.wowhead.com/item=112324/nightmarish-hitching-post toy is mailed to all of your characters via in-game mail (which I obviously, cannot claim).
So, unfortunately, unless a GM adds the toy to my collection without cursing me with gametime, no Starter Edition https://www.wowhead.com/item=112324/nightmarish-hitching-posts for you guys!
P.S.: Since I never really finished the New Dalaran Sewer Fishing grind for the https://www.wowhead.com/item=138387/ratstallion on my pure F2P Starter Edition account, I might do it on this new account in stead, since I see myself bugging GMs in the future for all sorts of things to be added straight to my collection. Might be easier to accomplish that on an account I have spent money on, rather than my absolutely pure F2P one.
P.S.S.: https://www.wowhead.com/item=166779/transmorpher-beacon also gets auto-added to your collection. So, perhaps the best Shop Purchase a F2P account can make.

I currently can only think of two examples, but might be a case to be made for IF2P (Impure F2P). Dorks like @Htag and I who have a Starter Edition account with Blizzard Shop goodies.

I think Cataclysm servers would only be feasible if they do another World Overhaul with an upcoming expansion. The appeal of Classic/TBC/WotLK is that it's before Deathwing had his fun with Azeroth.
