Why are different gms allowed to give different answers?

Christ. I realize I scare them away with my bramble but over the years it seems like every single gm is someone that deserves a hand around the throat and pushed against the wall.

why are gms not held accountable? I’m sick of hearing how they can’t do something that we all know has been used on a different person.Always seeing this happen, and not just to me.

end rant

Good point.

they might as well subcontract that stuff out. I wonder if any of them play.

GMs are just Customer Service Reps, some reps are good, some of them are bad. At the end of the day, they are paid to close tickets, not develop in-depth game knowledge.

How do they get to use discretion at will?
That is strange

Wait, if they are not for in depth game knowledge, then why are they called game MASTERS

Amen!
Something tells me ohti is a gm and has it out for me because holy pally is great at tanking at low levels. And I’ll tell you and chops something else, if you were my real friends I’d take you both down a peg or two.

Because their guidelines are somewhat tight. And since it's literally a job, few of them want to go into interpretation and take chances. As long as they can cover their own asses, then all good, as far as they're concerned.

That's why, if you're knowingly stepping into a grey area (refunds, item restorations that are not available through the site etc. etc.), make use of the favor system (can be granted every 6 months) to accounts that aren't flagged. Flags last for a LONG time, so if you're flagged, just don't try anything fishy. Give it approx. 8-12 months and the flag shouldn't matter anymore, and you can go back to whatever grey zone GM stuff.

How do you know you're flagged? GM's will shut you down pretty quickly and actually threaten with account suspension after a while.

If you keep trying for the same thing, do different angles. Different enough to make the next GM unable to connect the dots, but still give you the outcome you seek. This is an artform on its own and each problem is unique.

What about the GMs in here :D They are just a joke...
This forum is like "dictatorship" or "communism"...
They delete pics, posts, threads... if you post something about "their" ppl, who break the rules in-game, like Brihan.

The fucker Chops is like Kim Jong-un, fat and ugly!

Their guidelines on all matters seem highly subjective and (at least for "frontline" GMs) the general recommended behavior seems to mostly negate non typical requests to reduce outside impact in the game.

GMs are just customer service reps. They have a guidebook and a script and if your request is a bit of an edge case (typical of us) then they have to improvise or just do the best they can.

I like to think of it like waitstaff at a restaurant. You're making oddly specific requests like "hey can I get this side subbed for half of that entre, will you bring me ranch AND italian dressing on the side and I want cheese on only half my cheeseburger".

Is that possible? of course. Is it allowed within the guidelines of the establishment? Maybe. Maybe not. If its not, maybe you catch a cool waiter and kitchen who cut you a break anyway. Or maybe you catch the new guy who is like "man i dunno, i dont think we can". Or maybe you catch the rules nerd who just straight up says "no".

This is why when you're doing edge case shit like "can I get my xp turned back on on this nonsubbed account" its best to have that link to their article that lays out exactly whats going on. Makes it clear for any new people or rules dorks or whatever that this is a thing and here's how to fix it.

But to continue the analogy, if you're an asshole to the waitstaff because they either dont know or wont help you with your problem and you act like an entitled brat about not getting special treatment... then good luck ever getting served in that restaurant again. Or not getting a wad of spit in your side of ranch.
