Whoa dudes, tonight was awesome. Can we make this every night?

Sorry guys, I do understand how you feel, but... Shane wants direct insults and vulgarity out of the forums. If it's a word that you wouldn't say to your aunt Franny, it's probably not going to go over well here. And we do keep context in mind--like the other day someone said "no one wants to end up looking like the asshole" and I would be okay with that (largely because it was me who said it) but if someone said "you are an asshole" then that's a direct insult and we can't allow it. Also, any direct reference to someone's private parts, I'm going to ask that you don't do that (as that was the case with the edited vulgarity Luplis quoted).

And Luplis I assure you no one is trying to limit anyone's voice nor their opinion. But we entrust you as adults or soon-to-be adults to "express their views without vulgarity." If someone is functionally unable to express their views without vulgarity or insults, they're not going to last here. And certainly that's been the fate of several previous users in the past. But I'm putting my trust in you guys to be able to maturely express your views, even heated opposing views and even interpersonal squabbles. without being profane at each other. I feel like you guys are on the up and up, and I feel like you can get on board with this.

The only thing holding F2P's back from Swiftness Potions is that the recipe is a drop and not learned at the trainer. However, I have seen this drop multiple times now while doing SFK runs so if you really feel disadvantaged without it, it is definitely farmable with some patience.

What does speed pots matter on a f2p if p2ps already run at 150% speed regardless

Again, this is a ggs thread that you hijacked because I called out fotm BM. You took it personally qt. F2P vs p2p ensued. F2P couldn't hang without mod assistance.

Do we need to make this subforum a p2p only zone to keep f2ps out, as you've so kindly done in your subforum?

Tapatalked from my PACMAN 4.4.4 Note II

The fact remains that we all play p2p and f2p both, It is just more fun to outplay 29s than play 29s and faceroll you guys

It's annoying to discuss things with people who exaggerate.

And quit trying to goad us into a premade. Nobody wants to put in the effort.

You keep making excuses, hoping people will notice the cross you seem to be putting yourself up on. It really isn't helping your cause.

It's what failed to pays do, they talk trash and refuse to back it up while complaining about the advantage of real twinks.

If someone bothers to put together a premade team they wont show up for it.

Just like they wouldn't show up back in the day for a 5v1 for character deletion after talking trash for weeks.

Thats why they should just bite the bullet and segregate the forums, no posting of failed to pay crap in real twink forums no posting of 29 stuff in failed to pay forums.

Less work for mods, less stupid trash talk, fewer bans, more web traffic.

Wouldn't "asshole" be considered vulgarity in general?

You guys are coming at me like I'm the voice of the f2p bracket when I clearly pay for the game. I have 29s, yet prefer f2p in pugs due to the amount of skill it takes to overcome a 5-10 man of 29s. Bm monk is OP yes, but f2p Bm compared to 29 is a vast difference. 29 BM can 1v10 an entire team of f2ps without even batting an eyelid. My point is that the use of speed pots; and other various items such as Flash bombs and Goblin mortars are extremely unnecessary when you already have double the CC and abilities that a f2p has, plus 30% bonus speed. Even queing my 29s, I would never go as far as that to farm gy.

Not a mod but, technically yes. But to me context is everything. I read twice today in a thread F-bombs but in the context it was not an insult, troll, or sexual reference so no biggy to me.
Context is really everything. To ban certain words, seems juvenile and outmoded, a la FCC, when anyone can come up with come up with phrases that contain no traditional "swear" or "curse" word, yet are incredibly offensive. Take for instance, the phrase "boston steamer", neither "boston", nor "steamer" are offensive, but with their powers combined...

I think we need to sticky a list of all bannable words and offensive phrases in every forum. I could facilitate the brainstorming session; after all, it's time I gave back to the community.

Maybe you can get a special new TI ranking for that

Edit: thanks srs, I'll never look at my fave firehouse sub the same after googling your reference lol

Yeah see I, for one, see all this in the spirit of what's actually a pretty healthy conversation about how the mods and the users can come to an agreement on what constitutes expressing oneself without using "vulgarity". To the point that, with you guys's blessing, I might direct the other mods to check out this ongoing conversation so that we can start an internal dialogue about best practices. Shane's going to be the ultimate decider, but I tend to agree that some things in the CoC could use specificity or clarification. I'm new at the job so I'm not jaded yet :)

Yeah, you know I'm just messing around, and perfecting the same argument, on why I should be allowed to swear, that I've been making since I was in grade school. I guess my greater point is that I feel like TI is losing a lot of colorful characters and best players, not only to bans, but to loss of patience/interest in the dialogue. Not all of this has to do with past and current moderation policy, but some of it does. I don't envy your job here, Kincaide; trying to strike a balance between keeping the forums PC, while allowing the most freedom of opinion possible, is the work of Sisyphus. Good luck.

Thank you. I try to view it less as keeping it PC, and more as keeping it PG-13.

Thanks for the past couple posts.

PG-13 allows for colorful language.

I don't understand the sudden pivot to PG content. Shouldn't TI be most interested in what the userbase wants? It would be an easy test to figure out which side of the fence people prefer. Make a subforum within each bracket that warns that potentially colorful language is inside. If those subforums get all the activity, and the regular ones die - you have your answer.
