Really? I thought the damage on Fireball was on par with Lightning Bolt from a Ele, and Crit Pyroblast is 500-600 damage, sometimes you get lucky and pull two in a row o_o
The problem is that fire is pure hard cast.
Assuming 150 spell power Fire Mage, and calculating in a base resilience of 40%:
Pyroblast: {98 + ([150]) x (1.98) } x (.60) = 237
Pyroblast (DoT): {96 + ([150]) x (2.16) } x (.60) = 252 (Over 18 seconds: roughly 14 DPS, or 42 damage a tick)
Total Damage: 489
Hot Streak (+25%)
Pyroblast: 296.25
DoT: 315 (Roughly 17.5 DPS, or 52.5 a tick)
New Total: 611.25
Fireball: {67 + ([150] x (1.50)] } x (.60) = 175.2
Not exactly spectacular, but manageable. I would say the bottom four class specializations are:
4. Shadow Priests
3. Enhance Shamans
2. Fire Mages
1. Fury Warriors
Back to Fire Mages: Assuming all critical strikes,150 spell power, and 40% resilience, the best burst rotation is probably to:
1. Frost Nova target.
2. Cast Pyroblast onto target. (474) (Critical Strike) (Shatter)
3. Presence of Mind a second Pyroblast onto target. (474) (Critical Strike) (Shatter)
4. Hot Streak Pyroblast onto target. (592.5) (Critical Strike) or (296.25) (non-crit)
This assumes a target that allows a full pyroblast to be casted into them, as well. But the potential burst is absolutely phenomenal for only 2 global cooldowns.
