I spend 40 hours a week making real life money, why would I try to turn my hobby time into work time?
i also work full time (like most adults do). but a side hustle never hurts. it probably doesn't pay that well at the beginning, but once you figure out your own system (supplier, marketing, pricing, sustainable customer base), it's just free money on the side that pays the rent or keeps food on the table, maybe you should try it.
(i am an actuary yet my side business is selling laptops).
indeed it sucked when i missed the fishing tournament this weekend, and i didn't even make a sale because the guy was playing with me and told me to meet him at a place where he never showed up. but like everything else in life, you accumulate experiences from the set backs and failures, as long as you keep pushing, the money will start rolling in.
it's about the thrill the hunt, sort of like making gold in wow, it stops being about the money at some point, it becomes a trade that you try to perfect.
also, it's the interaction that makes it all worthwhile, i have learnt a lot from my customers over the past couple of years. even the worst customers, they can at least teach you what kind of people to avoid, or how to/how not to deal with specific types of people.
i think all i am trying to say is, try to be more open minded and more positive, instead of saying "is this guy really what he claims to be", say "what can i learn from this guy that will make MY life better". because putting down others does nothing to your life, but learning even 1 tiny thing from someone might improve your life dramatically.
