EU+US What stats xfer to BG's?

Ovomuhfkr

Grandfathered
I just returned to WoW/Twinking for legion since late wotlk (lmao). Obviously a lot has changed. My main concern are stats and enchants/procs. I noticed in dungeons my 19 fury warrior has up to 42% crit yet in BG's it drops to 21% along with a few other stats. Also, do weapon procs such as SF/NR work in BG's? I heard someone mention that they did not... If their is a link or if anyone could take some time to summarize what's new for me, that'd be fantastic.

Happy twinking!

Edit: I'm assuming mastery does nothing for lower level toons?

Nothing transfers to BGs except weapon speed and ilvl. All your stats are generated from your ilvl from a template

Also enchants dont function in instanced pvp and have no effect

Weapon damage matters as well.
weapon dmg & speed are directly linked. Slower = better because you get a higher weapon damage.

Faster weapons have lower damage etcetc.

Exceptions are wands and staves iirc.

I know that. Hardbass went from ilevel 24 invasion bow to ilevel 34 invasion bow and his Cobra Shot damage went up by ~53. Same speed, higher damage.

because higher ilvl = more budget obviously?

Idk what you're argueing for.

I'm not sure you realize how item level in PvP works.

Not surprised considering you're the guy who argued that there are no breakpoints just the other day.

For lvl20, every average item level you achieve above 25, you will receive a 0.1% bonus to all of your stats e.g. if you get your average item level to 45, you will receive a 2% bonus to your stats.

Can you not try to say I'm an idiot when you're argueing for something that nobody even objected to in the first place? There are no breakpoints. You continuously gain stats, they just don't show up on your character if they're not significant enough to actually give you +1 point.

~50 Cobra Shot damage is a ~10% increase in damage. Are you telling me that increasing the item level of my weapon by 10 increases my average item level by 100?

Don't try to act smart when you have no idea what you are talking about. You're making yourself look like an idiot.

You're argueing pure semantics with your weapon dmg & weapon speed both mattering. They are the same thing.

Weapon damage directly buffs your abilities. This is common knowledge and everyone knows that getting a slower weapon buffs your damage significantly.

Casters get a direct intellect boost on their weapons to offset this 'advantage'

It is also the reason why melees seem to do so much damage all the time on lower levels.

As OP can someone fill me on breakpoints..?
People think there are breakpoints because they get +1 stamina at a specific ilvl while not getting any at ilvls in between, when the reality is that they are getting +0.1 stamina and +0.2 stamina etc on those ilvls until they hit +0.5 which will get rounded out to +1 which shows up on your character sheet.

They are not the same thing. We are talking about weapons with the exact same speed but different damage values. I'm not sure what you don't get.

Higher Ilvl > more budgeted stats > higher weapon damage.

???

So like others have said:
  • Enchants, stats, etc have no effect in BGs
  • Your spec/class has a template that awards you stats
  • For 19, the "base" template is ilvl 24 gear. If you have an average equipped ilvl of below 24, you will have the same stats as someone with exactly ilvl 24.
  • For each ilvl above 24, you get 0.1% more stats. Blizzard only displays whole numbers, so its hard to tell if your ilvl is making a difference except for the "breakpoints" where the bonus stats reach the next whole number.
  • For classes that use weapon damage to determine spell damage (basically all melee except feral/guardian druids and monks), you want the highest weapon damage in the mainhand possible. Even at the loss of ilvl.
  • Usually, this means you want the slowest weapon possible. Since there are very few weapons above ilvl 24 - the slower weapon will mean more weapon damage. However there are new warforged weapons that are ilvl 34. They have more weapon damage than a similar speed weapon at ilvl 24 - so those will likely be better than a slower ilvl 24 weapon. It depends on the weapon and the class and the skill in question, so if you do get an ilvl 34 weapon, test it out in a BG and see what your skill tooltips say.
  • For some reason (may be a bug), instanced pvp is awarding a 5% bonus to your main stat if you are wearing the correct armor type. This normally is supposed to kick in at level 50. But for now, use the proper armor class (ex, plate for warriors) even at the cost of ilvl. So while Lucky Fishing Hat has a ilvl of 40 - it is not worth for hunters over the mail heirloom.

Depending on how much you've caught up - go buy all the relevant heirlooms from the vendor in undercity/stormwind? (dunno where alliance one is). Then take your twink to all the invasions to try for the invasion gear. It will only be available until legion, and theres rare chances of that warforged upgrade.

Once invasion gear is no longer available, you can get other higher ilvl pieces depending on your class. Look at one of the gearing guides (my sig has one, but theres one that is more up-to-date in the Q&A section of the forums) for more info.

Lastly, dont throw away your old gear. Some of it might be useful in the future.
