What happened with the skirmish idea fo 5.3/5.4?

MrTwinkenz

Feelz Good Man.
So i remember reading about skirmishes maybe coming back in 5.3 or 5.4, well, now we're here and nothing has happened...

Does anyone knows if Blizzard forgot about it or just don't want to add it back in the game?

they never said 5.3 or 5.4, but that they are working on bringing them back. our best shot of getting skirms back is with the release of the new expac.

but if you're interested in running wargames, we have a pretty active community on US-korgath with lots of competitive games happening daily.

"waste of resource", funny how the entire dev team left after after wrath launch and the game has gone money tight since activison has control. this game wont get better, but please continue( as a community) to complain how bad it is and see it run into the ground.

Blizz said they'd keep making expansions if people keep playing, there execpting there quarterly Sub count within in the next few days., inb4 7million subs/ down from 9mill on MoP release. you F2P's best get the most of playing this game while playing FotM. ./endrant since none of you have played wrath you dont know what balanced "is"

you make the strangest off topic posts, and it's hella annoying.

I remember when Blizz talked about skirmishes, they said something along the lines of "we're thinking of bringing skirmishes back but it won't be in the next patch."

I can't find that article / post so I'm not sure if they said that in 5.2 or 5.3. But considering what Blizz is like I'm gonna assume we'll see a few patches before they finally give Skirmishes back.

Saw the same post, but can't find it >_>

I'll just file that right next to such gems as:

Q: Arena Skirmishes: What happened to them? They were a useful tool in trying new compositions, testing out a new teammate, or just having some fun during downtime. Wargames are nice, but did skirmishes have to go in order for them to be implemented? – Zubzar (North America/ANZ), Nølfen (Europe [French]), Jinusek (Europe [English]), Whoohoo (Europe [German])

A: We didn’t cut Skirmishes because they were flawed. We just thought we’d get more bang for the buck out of Wargames. While some players enjoyed Skirmishes, we can tell you that overall they were used very rarely. We would have kept them if it had been relatively easy to do so, and we may add them back someday, but it’s just not a huge priority based on their previous popularity.

March 2011 Ask the Devs

We are well aware that there are some players out there who would love to see Skirmishes brought back into the game, the key word in that sentence being "some". When Skirmishes were in the game, they were used by an incredibly small percentage of the playerbase. So if you consider that the development and design support that is required for this system is in no way trivial, it’s very unlikely that Skirmishes will ever be brought back.

The comment "it’s very unlikely that Skirmishes will ever be brought back" is not us saying it is never going to happen; it’s just a statement that it is highly unlikely. Also, don't take my lack of additional responses as this discussion being dead and over. My lack of responses to the questions and comments here is because at this moment, we don’t have the answers on hand, but will provide a response as soon as is possible.

Please search for an existing thread on the topic before you create a new one. Ghostcrawler recently mentioned that Skirmishes are still something that we want to do. Jump in on the discussion here: Bring back skirmishes - Forums - World of Warcraft

As youre always a troll, Im assuming this is a troll post.

Ill bite anyway, youd be surprised at how many F2Pers have played since Classic / TBC era.

The general lack of skill and concept of game mechanics proves your point

Im not talking about jajas and players who are genuinely new. The vast majority of players connected to F2P communities have been playing for quite some time.

While I agree Wrath was a much better time for the game as a whole, do not forget shamans and warlocks from that time period. Both classes could literally be AFK and beat pretty much anyone.

im not talking about Jajs's either. the player base you speak of (including myself) is niche at best.
