We Missed A Great Opportunity...

Asmongold guy gave hostility toward twinking, twinkers gave hostility back.

This is why.

It’s not like when you meet a random leveler curious about why you are so strong. In every bg I am in this response from a leveler is usually responded to nicely.

But when some dood with real skillz missing half his required gear is flaming chat acting like king of the current wsg game it is usually flame chat or shut up that is sent back their way.

If that makes any sense.

At wirks so bad types.

There is literally nothing to say agaist this. Indeed our community appeared as a 12 year old kid. If we'd have been more mindful in our words, perhaps the twinking scene would have grown even more, seeing that those 20k people would actually enjoy/respect the community. But yeh, shitheads will always be there to rise up saying shit stuff.

A few in the community don’t speak for everyone.

/cheers

I watched 5 minutes of Asmongold's stream just scrolling through a certain thread which was created to roast him, or must you say "muster the troops". You know how embarrassing it was for me (most likely the rest of the staff) to see all the disrespectful comments shown in front of 22,000 viewers? And for what? A stroke on your ego? How could you guys be so selfish and juvenile. "Lets hunt this goon down and show him who rules this bracket". What? Are you guys like e-alpha males or something? Are you unable to handle not being as popular as him? Why would you NOT want to give a good impression in front of thousands of people and show how fun twinking can be. Instead, you instantly segregated him away from our entire community (IN FRONT OF F*#%$& 20,000 VIEWERS).

To the rest of you, I have said it multiple times and I will say it again, you are a disgrace to the twinking community and most likely the reason why the twink camaraderie is non-existant.

Grow up and change your mentality of this petty "me vs them". We truly missed a great opportunity for this forum and the development of twinking. And every single person that commented on that thread in a negative way has played a role in that.

Good job.

@Sponsor couldn't you have just... I dunno, called me out by name? The passive-aggressiveness is pretty annoying. It's almost as annoying as the hypocrisy and Asmongold dickriding. "Disrespectful"? Honestly?

First, you don't know me at all, and you don't know my motivations. So don't pretend that you do. I've been a dedicated part of the twinking community for nine years, sharing in the awesomeness of the split-bracket days in 39s and 49s. I'm still friends with a lot of the fantastic people I met back then. The people I play with know I'm one of the most generous and ego-less players around. I'm always first in line to help people with gear runs, include people in groups, or craft gear for people. I play here because it's fun. I play here because I like the community. And I said what I said about assgold because I cannot stand the guy or his stream. This has nothing to do with ego and everything to do with safeguarding and preserving our community and its reputation. Because the people I play with are cool and look for good games and aren't here to pubstomp every BG. This community needs quality over quantity.

Second, if you're going to quote me, quote me correctly. I said, "let's ... show him who RUNS the bracket," not "rules." Get it right. And I stand by that quote. But don't go on and on about how there's no "twink camaraderie," because in the brackets I play there absolutely is. I get a new btag friend nearly every night I queue BGs. So if you're lacking camaraderie, it's probably user error. It's pretty easy to make friends and have a good sense of community when you're cool, helpful, and fun to play with. Perhaps you could try some of those things.

Finally, what is this great opportunity we're supposed to have missed? Should we all have made carebear threads in which we welcome one of the most toxic players around with open arms? I get why @Sun did that; that's kind of his role as 39s coordinator, and also in-line with his personality (which is very pleasant). But honestly, did you want a giant "WELCOME TWITCH PRIME" banner and cupcakes? Did you comb your hair extra nice when you watched his stream, and then cry to your mom about how horrible it was that an internet personality, who bases a lot of his stream on drama and stirring shit up, got DISRESPECTED?? ...yikes, man.

I have really mixed feelings on this. On one hand, I want to call this your past catching up with you. Did you really think the community here, the one to which you and others in charge have personally contributed behaviors like these, would react any other way? @SPQR called it -- you've been here, you've done this. And as he said (if I may paraphrase), drama sells and Asmongold's followers are buying. This community is no different -- the 19 bracket argued for the effectiveness of this approach for years, and got a couple of Twink Cups out of it.

When @Kirise talks, I listen. Why? Because he's a genuinely good dude who's put a lot of effort into this community. If someone like him were to say, "Bro, you probably went a little too far with your comments," I'd feel bad and apologize. But it's basically tripe and hypocrisy coming from you. And his point about the drama is spot-on, as well. The thing is, AG's viewers will play as long as he does, and then likely go do something else. Those that really enjoy it will stick around, and they're the people we'll want to welcome and help out. Not the fanboys who are here for a few weeks because that's what their favorite streamer decided to do for a little while. So regarding the missed opportunity: the right one--the one that will actually help the community--is still there and waiting. Assuming they weren't driven off by your hypocritical saltpost.

I surprised how much people are wanting all these people to be part of our community... Asmongold and his whole fan base are toxic.

This. So much this. This is exactly why I said what I said. In my experience, most of the people who play the midbrackets are pretty cool. @dbsprite @Kirise @Sun @weirdowl (and more) I love you guys and love playing with and against you. People like you are why I've stuck around these brackets for so long. I want to keep playing with and against people like you. I don't want the last bastion of fun wow to get overrun by a bunch of dreadfully obnoxious people. @Sponsor have you watched any of AG's stuff? He's the kind of person who would have played a hunter at 29 back in the day and kept using aimed shot in spite of the community ban on that ability, and then laughed about it on his stream and encouraged his viewers to do the same.

I don't think we should be bashing each other for having opinions. seriously we're gonna play the "oh, you have an opposing opinion on the situation? you're a disgrace to twinking, you're 12, you're *insert generic as fuck insult*" yadayadayada opinions are like assholes why is anything that opposes your point of view automatically immature or childish? foh. that shits just as immature realize that not everyone is going agree with you and respect it

I don't want to sound self centered because I know I wasn't the only one featured on his stream but I feel as though the community is now split apart at war because one neckbeard wants to play 39s, and I partly feel that its my fault. seems like people I was cool with a week ago are trashing me now.

hell, I love the idea of new people joining the community, so long as they aren't like the stereotypical Asmon dickrider

@ohti Don't beat yourself up, man. At least you didn't get [mis]quoted in the original rant. And I agree with your sentiment--we want new people, but we actually want them to be cool and decent people who understand what these brackets are really about, not just tourists who are only here for wow celebrity attention.

TL;DR: I'm not sorry for calling for kill squads to hunt down a certain streamer, and I intend to do it if I ever get a game against him. And if his team beats my team, props to him--isn't competition what this is all about? I'm not sorry for feeling differently about the brackets than Sponsor does, and for wanting them to remain a cool, niche part of wow (pops collar). I'm not sorry for having an opinion and expressing it. And I'll never be sorry for participating in well-intentioned trash-talk on a website that revolves around competition and killing other people's pixels.

I surprised how much people are wanting all these people to be part of our community... Asmongold and his whole fan base are toxic. The fact that the guy asks his viewers for gold and RL wow codes is disgusting. He literally goes around Goldshire and makes a game of how much people will trade him. His community is gonna be here for a small amount of time and when he finds his next thing to bring attention to his stream they will all be gone. It amazing that they played the victim in all this. In no way are people here supposed to bend down and suck his toes just because "his majesty" decided to make a twink. He even sent people out on witch hunts to people who didn't like that he is making a twink by bringing up their wow-armory and bashing them.

Probably not all.
Even if a small percentage of the people stay I would be fine with that. Either way it has given this niche way of playing the game a little more exposure to the type of people that watch other people play video games.

also I feel you on this one

@ me next time i'm a "disgrace to the community" please

You nerds need to chill with the walls of text as if anyone finna read them. No one cares let all of this assonmyface stuff die.

Edit: @Tzvetan tagged so u don't get ur panties in a twist u big pussy

There are a few things here I agree with and other things i dont.

What I do agree with is that it is completely wrong for anyone to treat anyone poorly when it comes to any aspect of the game or life in general. People shouldn't have ruined one of the best chances the community has had to put the idea of twinking back into people minds.

What I dont agree with is your all out negativity and false statements in this post.

To the rest of you, I have said it multiple times and I will say it again, you are a disgrace to the twinking community and most likely the reason why the twink camaraderie is non-existant.

Good job.

P.S. @Razqt is probably the only qualified person on this whole forum to talk shit towards him since he most likely is the only one with a higher pvp rating than him.

To say shit like oh this person is the only person who can talk shit just sounds childish. You and I both know damn well plenty people here have much experience over most other players. What people did to be negative and play their troll cards wasnt right to do. The way you worded your post just makes you sound like someones who trying to be a white knight but yet your still disrespecting the community which you claim to be dissapointed in. People do need to grow up, but if you're going to make a forum post - Be damn professional about it and not let your emotions get in the way. Be a role model.

(Sorry for any grammar mistakes, on mobile.)

OK, I watched the VOD set forth in @Daltert Moropi's thread.

https://xpoff.com/threads/reguarding-to-asmongolds-vid-response.81069/

And while I confess that I got a good chuckle out of some of the reactions to my posts (I still see gorilla, what can I say? Maybe it's the hair?), I can also see, in the context of the video, why @Sponsor is so displeased. I still disagree with his response, but I at least understand the underlying motivation. This basically comes down to me disliking AG and his stream; the one linked above is probably the most tolerable one I've seen.

That said, although I used a lot of "not sorry" in my above post, I do apologize if my initial comments came across as "gatekeeping." That was certainly not my intention. My intention was to express my dislike for someone I find distasteful, and to rally the community into showing him that, even if not all of us have great end-game achievements on our accounts (as he is clearly fond of pointing out... sorry @ohti ), we know how to play our toons in our respective brackets. If my comments harmed the 39s community in any way--which I think is pretty unlikely, since the first thing AG did after reading the thread was queue 39 skirms--then I apologize for that.

There are all kinds of people watching his stream. From hardcore pvpers to lfr casuals, non of them are exacly the same as him. There could be a lot of people watching who you could have tons of fun with playing the game. The was a huge potential to show that this comunties has a lot of friendly people who could help him discover twinking. I think he got to see how this cumunity is like, some of the people here are toxic an hostile towards others. I guess thats just how this forum is.

Hm, I've shown him the thread. I read every post.

Hello, @Mcconnell. Welcome to XPOff.com.

Although it may seem unwelcoming to you with the torrent of animosity surrounding your and Asmongold's arrival to these forums, deep down all of us competitive spirits actually do welcome you, not all of us with open arms, though. Please keep in mind that Twinking has developed what we refer to as: #BracketCulture in terms of the overtly friendly words you have experienced. This is a tool we use to test the mettle of our members' mental states, and ween out crybabies & snowflakes. Not all of us engage in such productive behavior, but those that do; don't actually mean you any harm, they just want to see how you jive, and where in the community you will ultimately land.

I welcome you to these forums, and hope you decide to stick around and explore other brackets as well. There's a number of very helpful people who frequent these forums, who will be glad to share their knowledge. You will just have to do a bit digging in the dirt to find some gems.

I'm curious how many people will actually continue playing the twink bracket. Because it's clear this huge influx of players is from Asmon, that's a given. But it would be cool to see the 30-39 bracket have a noticeable impact in the long run.

But what do I know, I've only played the 20-29 bracket.

@asmongold @Mcconnell Tons of people are helping all of his followers gear and twink. Just because he reads the toxic posts doesnt mean xpoff isnt showing a welcoming side. Asmon and mcconnell are using the forums for content production, but tons of new twinks have gotten the help they needed from the community that actually plays the bracket not the forum warriors who have egos or just came back. By all means please have your followers join the 39 twink community(i believe the password is passed around your guild as I have specifically given the code to many of the twinks within your guild on moonguard)

If you or any 39's have questions a few of us will always help out. (any of my twinks with scrub in the name) will help with anything we can. There are plenty of twinks in the community who help just like this. please forgive the poor image the forum warriors portray..

Healthy competition is one thing.. being toxic is another.
