US Warlocks. Worth it?

I looking to make a caster 101 twink, other than a boomy, but i'm unsure if i should go priest or warlock. Maybe someone can give me some insight on what caster may be the best in terms of pvp/dungeon runs etc.

If you suggest a class, please tell me what spec may be the best for certain situations so i don't waste 400 000g. :)

I was thinking affliction lock since they have free leech, but shadow priest also has vamp touch healing.
 
I'd say aff warlock or ele shaman.

Ele shamans can obtain as sick gear as boomkins, shamans just got a bit less mobility. Strong aoe and singletarget.


Warlock idk since i only had a half geared destro lock, but seen warlocks doing decent pulls as affliction. Soul Flame looks neat. Tho they really lack mobility. Not sure about singletarget dps as affliction this patch but seems good in raids.


I'd say warlock or ele shaman over shadowpriest since shadowpriest is such a ramp up class.

  • I had a 101 priest (with only ilvl 812) and it sucks, when my dots would be starting to tick high and do massive damage the boss was down xD
  • I enjoy my elemental shaman, he has great aoe damage, decent healing and my boss dps is awesome too and with ghostwolf + legendary buff my movement speed is great too.
 
Based on my personal 101 twinks (PvE perspective only):
  • Demo Lock: takes forever to ramp up the damage but when you do holy shit. Also, you're unkillable.
  • Disc Priest: just don't. I'm already up to 824 iLvL WITH 1/2 810 Relics and the DPS still sucks. Granted I'm unkillable but still... Although it IS fun to Heal a random Dungeon while also being top DPS at ~200K ST (scaled to 101 ofc).
  • Ele Shaman: My gear isn't nearly as good as @mczizegg but the DPS is good (both AOE and ST). Only issue I still have at 835 iLvL is my Shammy takes quite a bit of Dmg.
  • Shockadin: Technically a Caster so I'll add it. ZERO AOE to speak of but does shit loads of ST DPS. Granted mine is 859 iLvL with 2/2 810 Relics. Again, unkillable.
I'd go Aff > Destro/Demo if I were to choose again. I haven't tried Mage but it's apparently pretty good. Shaman gives you a bunch of options that Clothie Caster Classes do not so there's that.

Lastly, it really is Boomkin > all other Casters tbh.

Thanks for all the insight and tips, i'm gonna sit on that decision because i dont want to waste all of this gold on a class that wont be profitable in the end. Also, how are hunters since i find mail boes to be extremely cheap.
 
BM Hunter is tits at 101. Kill anything (fast) and even with a tiny bit of Leech your Pet is unkillable... actually kind of boring in that respect lol. Mine is 838 and already doing ~700K ST DPS and 1-shots anything sub 600K Health with Kill Command.

Another benefit to Hunter is the Pet itself doesn't suffer the miss chance of the Hunter so you can easily kill 110 NPC's that ALL Casters struggle with.
 
i honestly might just stick to my WW monk :/ too stressed out over who the hell to twink. i can still sell runs on my WW but i feel as if Boomy was the best choice, realizing this only after spending 200k+/- on gear...

Only 200k for the whole gear? Thats cheap af xD

EDIT: How are WW @level 101? i have a lvl 100 monk with 795 legendary ring and 730 class trinket
 
im not fully geared, far from it. no leech. They are op in a sense they can burst a boss down, but their AOE is lack-luster compared to other classes

Not sure I'd agree on the movement thing. Wolf form, especially if you have a bunch of Speed, can be quite fast. However, Casting wise I can agree since Ele doesn't have much for insta on-the-run Abilities, at least that do any real dmg on the first application.

Ye just looking at movment speed shamans got wolf form, tho druids got displacer + dash.

Talking about mobility I mean being able to do stuff while moving, which druids come out on top :)

No shout out for Arcane mage? More bursrty that a boomkin, and just as quick at dungeons (boomies 20 second faster most situations). But the single target burst that can take down bosses in less than 10 seconds.

Agree with all except the statement that druids are best mobile casters. Arcane mages #1 aoe ability is Arcane explosion. When would you use aoe? While running and pulling a lot.
Here is an example, enter Nelth. Scorpion pack I Arcane blast, then I run through them able to Arcane explosion a few times, then I can jump turn around, arcane barrage and aoe the next pack in front of me.

I have no issues with seeming limited on dping while moving.

It boils down to how fast you can aoe and kill the pack you pulled, and get onto the next pull. In which case, a fully charged (4 Arcane power) Arcane spamming AE trumps all

Unless somehow the boomkin is strong enough to kill the mobs with dots before it gets to the boss your killing next

I only gave my opinion about the Casters I currently have Twinked at 101 and also did say that I heard Mage was good.

This was a comparison I did between ele and balance :) I have no experience in arcane mages, only seen them melt bosses really quick. Heard they are quite squishy killing trash mobs but I bet you get above a certain ilvl / leech and its no problem anymore.

Would love to see a clip of an arcane mage clearing trash! :)

My comp is way too shitty to record or I would
As far as aoe goes, after the 1st boss in HOV, I can pull both sides of the staircase, top of staircase, every mob inside the room that leads to last 3 bosses, and all the mobs leading to the chick angel boss, ALL in 1 pull, and aoe them down with only Arcane power up in, no exaggeration, 15 seconds.

What are some easy to use, easy and free to download, recording programs that might work for me with usually running 30 fps in combat?
Last time I recorded was my 19 rogue in vanilla and BC

I usually use OBS for recording, you can tweak it for performance. That might help you out some
