Wake Up Call

lol

not sure where youve been but we have people forming teams and practicing for a 1400 buck tournament that includes a team with ppl that have gotten prideful glad competing in the tournament. lost much?

i queue my 24 ret pala when i wanna do stupid shit like this lmfao

Let me see if I understand:

1. You cite a potential prize of $1400 as evidence that 19 twinking is serious.

2. Additionally, you claim some of the best players on the planet will participate as well.

My father always told me that idiots tell stories; pros do the math. So let's do some math: Assuming 3 rounds of WSG, 20 minutes of played time each plus another 40 minutes of sitting around setting games up is 3 hours total. $1400/10 players is $140 each. Divide $140 by 3 and you have about $47 an hour.

Since the topic is the gravity of the event, let us consider other "serious" jobs. High-level attorneys regularly bill at $1000+ an hour, usually netting 80%. The numbers for surgeons are similar. Hell, even mechanics that specialize in luxury cars can make $70 an hour. In other words, while that sort of payout may impress you, it is pathetically small to anyone with real skills.

If math is a set of tools you are using pliers to drive a nail

Care to elaborate?

My point is that you are using math but you are not using it to answer a relevant question. You challenge the idea that $1400 is an indication of the seriousness of level 19 twinking. Your challenge appears to be based on the idea that $1400 divided amongst the winners and divided by their time investment amounts to [only] $47 per hour. So I infer that your question is : does $47/hour make something serious?

To me that question is at best a distraction from the real question about whether 19 twinking is serious, and mostly just irrelevant.

A $1400 prize pool is serious because it's

a) a lot of money whether it gets divided or not
b) pretty much unique in this context (how many players on TI have the opportunity to make money by competing in PvP in this game?)
c) has got a lot of players to take this seriously

Another argument is that 19s twinking is a serious thing for a lot of people regardless of getting prize money, so doing "math" on the prize money couldn't take away the seriousness even if the prize were only $100. The $1400 prize just shows how serious it is to some people.
