Veteran Quick Start Gearing Guide [BFA]

This post is not a critic on a flaw of the guide concerning gear, but to point out a misconception about a specific spec of Paladin.

I would like to point out a misconception concerning protection paladins. Although it's very true for a vet, or f2p paladin of any spec to combat a 29 twink with limited spells, and sub-par gear would have a bad time. I would argue that even a f2p prot paladin can in fact defeat vet rogues with double ele force and hidden satyr under the conditions that they don't panic when being ganked and have a cool head during the duel. A seasoned prot paladin is highly underappreciated and I would encourage for more people to try it and theory craft on it.

The Rebout talent when used allows you to raise your block chance by 75% (going to 85% with the passive 10% when simply holding a shield) to negate roughly 1/3 of inc dps. Then with the Shield of the Righteous spell, you raise your armor up by roughly 180 armor points (last I was aware, might be different now) which also greatly reduces damage. The Talent lasts for roughly 10 seconds or until you use the shield of the righteous spell, and the spell lasts for about 4 seconds, but also you have three charges on it. So in conclusion you can negate roughly 1/3 of someones dps and possibly more so for a fair chunk of time. Giving you the 'tankiness' you need to cast off flash heal, and when needed, to chug a single mana potion to cast a few more times.

A lot of people don't even seem to know boar's speed doesn't stack with forms and 10% might not seem much, but after a bit of kiting it'll add up more than the 3 sta u get from boar's. Also he put aurora BG pieces etc.. in the guide which is harder to get than 2 pair of fang/slither boots from WC. You said in the post I previously quoted that u should use green lens in most cases and the SP extreme head when u aren't getting focussed. How is that any different than what I'm saying? It both requires u to make 2 diff sets or right click it in ur bags to swap to the other pair.

PS: he even put black widow band in the gear list so I definitely don't think my suggestion of 2 pair of boots is too much.
bwb is technically only a few clicks away from obtaining so long as you have the gold so i'd count that as quick. farming out multiple pairs of boots to swap around enchants is ideal yes but can be an intimidating task for newer twinks, and a lot of newer twinks now a days come from endgame so they're pretty much loaded on gold

not to say I wont take your boot thing into consideration when reworking the druid sections though, I appreciate any criticism / feedback

Like I said in my 2nd post: "you can decide to swap around or only use 1 of the 2" so you can either prefer 10% speed in all forms or 3 sta and only extra speed in normal form. The choice is theirs to make if they are willing to "tryhard" or not.

I'm with @Chainz on the boot enchant thing. It might be worth adding something along the lines of what @necroaqua has on speed stacking in his 19 guide's starter notes. Movement speed's pretty important, and the way these enchants work isn't intuitive at all. I think it's helpful for new twinks, even if it's kinda specific.

Could go with what he has for boot enchants too since they all scale the same ("Boots: Enchant Boots - Minor Speed, Any hybrid 2stam+speed enchant" for example). If you do just want to pick a specific enchant so it's more straightforward, Earthen Vitality is probably a better option since it's a lot more common and usually way cheaper than Boar's Speed.

Druid - Feral
Veteran feral druids have little burst damage, but they make up for it in utility. Feral druids have great pressure with bleeds, possibly even better spread pressure than moonkin. Feral druids build up combo points and can be a part of a bigger burst with multiple twinks if timed right with a full ferocious bite. Feral druid is quite possibly the most mobile spec in the bracket, making for good FC capabilities. Feral druids can also be good when helping rogues ambush EFCs and ninja bases. Feral shines more at 29, but is still useful as a veteran.

Without counting the dark pants, we should have compare the dark ones with other ones, maybe the bg Adaptable ones = 7arm 7agi 10sta 9vers no ench.
Dark ones would have (+8agi +2 crit), vs Adaptable (+10sta +9vers). In this case, I think I would prefer the adaptable one. If you think like me, maybe you should add the bg ones instead of the dark ones to your list.

...(nope) giftC2 + assassinB8* = 1vers + 2agi +10%speed (but not an extra +2%speed, so no 12% -> only 12% when you are not in any form or in bear)

thank you korn, one spec I wasn't really certain of was feral so I will probably implement some of if not the entire gear set you've listed
 
Curious about the Outlaw weapon choices!

Weapon: Talon of Vultros (ilvl 23) > Assassin's Blade (ilvl 23) Sharpened Scarlet Kris > Balanced Heatseeker

Is this some grandfathered gear? The Rogues I see in bgs are all using Darkwater Talwar or some crafted greens with agility (Bronze something...)
Really curious that daggers are apparently the weapon of choice for Outlaw, I assume to trigger more Elemental Force? Or what's the idea?

Man this twinking stuff is so complex out of a sudden.

*---*Legs: Dark Leather Pants = 7arm 12agi (I suppose no lvl20 version) + ench (3agi 2crit) = 7arm 15agi 2crit (+7agi)
MyLegs: Felshroud Pants = 8arm 8agi 13sta 6crit 6has no ench (+1arm +13sta +4crit +6has).
In this case, with the dark leather pants, you get a lot of extra agi, but you lose a lot of sta. I suppose the felshroud pants are better for a balanced gear, and dark ones for glasscannon. Without counting the dark pants, we should have compare the dark ones with other ones, maybe the bg Adaptable ones = 7arm 7agi 10sta 9vers no ench.
Dark ones would have (+8agi +2 crit), vs Adaptable (+10sta +9vers). In this case, I think I would prefer the adaptable one. If you think like me, maybe you should add the bg ones instead of the dark ones to your list.

Myring2: I have the gfed Argus ring = 5agi 7sta (+1agi +1sta). Here, if we count that adaptable does not count, maybe argus is better because of this extra agi instead of 3vers, but I am not sure. And I do not know if you was counting Argus as an option or not. The new argus ring has lower stats because it's scaled, if I remember well.

MyTrinkets: same, but I still have tu get the returning champion. Dusk powder seems to be interesting. When I get bfa I will test it.

THEORY FUNCTIONALITY -> the philosophy here is: "the bigger % eats the following %". Minor can't eat and can't be eaten, it's bugged. X% does not eat 2% gift directly.

myWeapon: here I have enchanted Black Magic, that still procs if I remember well, but I think I have this one because in legion was the only one that was working. I have to change it.

That's more of a bis list than a quick gear guide. Also pretty sure you can't get adaptable to the value value on boots, chest, legs etc. Only on bracers and ring otherwise they are capped at 7 for boots etc.
 
Curious about the Outlaw weapon choices!

Weapon: Talon of Vultros (ilvl 23) > Assassin's Blade (ilvl 23) Sharpened Scarlet Kris > Balanced Heatseeker

Is this some grandfathered gear? The Rogues I see in bgs are all using Darkwater Talwar or some crafted greens with agility (Bronze something...)
Really curious that daggers are apparently the weapon of choice for Outlaw, I assume to trigger more Elemental Force? Or what's the idea?

Regarding the adaptable, I do not think that this has changed in last patch, but you could get adaptable of each bg piece: chest, bracers, legs, boots, rings, weapon,

Also you said boots are capped at 7. It would be strange because I some +7 and some +8. Also in other pieces I have seen a -1max values

It seems to be true. Only bracer and rings can arrive to the maximun value in their adaptable and so on.

This means that even if you have a boots with +5haste +3vers as the shown above (+8total), you won't find a +8 vers boots. Only the maximun is +7, as shown above too. This -1 max seems to happens to all the gear but not for bracers and rings, as goesid said.
 
In the Fury Warrior part:

Legs: Polished Legplates of Valor
Shoulders: Polished Pauldrons of Valor

These are the + crit Heirlooms, the + haste Heirlooms are called "of Might".

If the stat priority is Strength > Vers > Haste > Crit
 
Just realized I can only put Sharpening stone or Minor Mana Oil on. For PvE dungeon speed running mass AoE pulls what's better? Extra 3 weapon attack or +2 Vers rating?
