This is incorrect...Daman had no part in it. The MVP rank was created by me to assign to people who consistently added great content to the site and were generally helpful to the community. It was always a whole staff effort to nominate quality posters (though some participated more than others). It may have appeared as broken to some but that's only because who deserved it and who didn't was a very subjective thing. From my standpoint as the former Admin, it worked quite well...but can see how other people with differing opinions would think otherwise.
To me the MVP rank was a rank that helped me and many others know whether the person spouting off information was a generally trustworthy source of information or not, and that they were proven as someone that wanted to help others in the community. Sure we couldn't control MVP posts and certainly we had some minor issues from time to time, but again from my standpoint the system worked rather well.

P.S. Also if you're going to give out ranks solely on post count you should make sure they're accurate. I'm at least 700 posts short of my actual post count. It doesn't matter to me but will certainly matter to some others around here.
