Three questions: What percentage does expertise affect your hit rate per level, do +defense items actually help, and are resilience buffs help FC’s?

Apologies for asking three questions together but it’s all related to 39 warrior gearing.

Previously I played Kisho, a 39 orc warrior back in original TBC. Looking at the recommended gear for arms and tanking, I see some surprises, such as Expert Goldminer’s helm and Ardent Custodian. Now I’m gearing up Hardknockz, dwarf warrior for Nightslayer Vanilla/TBC.

Expertise:
Players have a certain percentage to dodge or parry your attacks. Does expertise decrease that by a flat amount (additive) or does it decrease it by a percentage (multiplicative)?

In this case how much difference does that +17 expertise from EGH provide?

Defense:
Looking at both Druid FC and warrior tank gear lists, they both list Ardent Custodian. This makes sense for the Druid since that armor bonus from the item will be increased but I don’t understand why you’d want to use it for warriors. 100 armor is very little and +5 defense does not give that much bonus. Reading this thread makes me wonder why something like Sword of Serenity or something stamina isn’t suggested instead.

Is +armor or +defense actually helpful for twinks?

Resilience:
I remember during TBC that resilience was a HUGE deal for 70’s doing pvp or arenas. As Twinks, we mostly have access to resilience through a chest enchantment and a shield enchantment, 15 and 12 respectively, for a total of 27 resilience at the expense of not having 150hp to chest or 18stamina to shield.

Is the prevailing thought that 27 resilience just does not have enough impact to give up 330hp?

With the caveat that I mostly played 39 warrior in WOTLK...

Not sure I'd run expertise on a 39 warrior because I dont WANT to limit dodges. more dodging means more overpowers. Also, iirc, expert goldminers helmet specifies axes instead of 2 hand axes? Might be a thing. Raging Berserkers Helm is BIS

As a tank or FC in pvp, Ardent Custodian never made sense to me either. Had one back in day and never used it. I got far more use out of Dwarf Captains Sword (high stam), and gimmick (im sorry "situational") weapons like Dazzling Longsword or just the standard issue WSG sword. Unfortunately, I dont think Mallet Of Zulfurrak becomes awesome until WOTLK?

Resilience is trash at 39, you cant stack enough to make a difference. Even with the addition of resilience heirlooms in wrath it wasnt good.

In Vanilla, EGH gives bonus to axes of some kind but the TBC changes it:

EGH TBC link

In TBC it provides 17 expertise.

Great feedback though Chops. I will have to check Dwwarf Captains sword to see if it’s available in vanilla or TBC.
