I'm looking at these from a Level 15's perspective but I'm curious of the 20 Communities' thoughts about the 4-set Bonus from these TBC Dungeon Sets:
For Doomplate in particular, the Legs have no Sockets vs the BiS non-Set has 3x Sockets losing (if you use 2/2 Gems) 6 Main Stat + 6 Secondary + 1 or 2 Socket Bonus Stat just to occasionally gain 18 Strength.
If we were to calculate a 1 PPM for the 4-set then you'd have an average of 4.5 Strength per second vs 6 Strength per second in Gems (not counting the 6 Secondary Stat & Socket Bonus). I know from personal testing that 1 Main stat is equal to 2 Versatility for throughput, but it's harder to value Haste, Mastery and Crit vs Main Stat.
To match ONLY the Main Stat loss from the 3x Gems in Legs for example, the 4-set proc would have to be active 20 seconds out of every minute putting it at roughly 1.33 PPM. If I had to guess, 6 Mastery/Haste/Crit is probably worth at least 3 Main Stat but maybe as little as 2. Going with 1 Main Stat always being worth 2 Secondary (not likely in all cases/Classes/Specs) then the loss of (3) 2/2 Gems = 9 Main Stat loss, add in the Socket Bonus and we'll round it to 10.
For the 4-set proc to match a permanent equivalent to 10 Main Stat then it would have to be active 33 seconds out of every minute or roughly 2.2 PPM. I haven't even begun to quantify the loss of the Eng Helm's double +10 Secondaries.
Have any of you 20's tested these Sets yet (beyond the 2-set that pretty much everyone goes for)? I'm curious to know what results you've seen because to me, as much as a +18 Str proc seems amazing, it just doesn't pan out on paper.
- CLOTH: Mana-Etched Regalia (8 SP on Harmful Spells at 15, worst Bonus of the 4 Sets)
- LEATHER: Wastewalker Armor (15 Agi at 15)
- MAIL: Desolation Battlegear (15 Agi at 15)
- PLATE: Doomplate Battlegear (18 Str at 15, best Bonus of the 4 Sets)
