so in order to counter hunters in battlegrounds, i should roll a disc priest, run out to midfield, shield myself, and start dpsing
It's more for if you're caught on your own and need to kill a hunter, blocking for your fc, on offense without a lot of help ect. Just never had much of a problem dealing with hunters as disc, penance/mind blast can do a lot of damage and the heals keep you up.

yeah, i was mocking that other guy about claiming that priests "counter" hunters. but i do agree with you - priests have the tools to defend themselves against hunters very well, especially shield.

guys, nobody cares about 1v1s. 1v1s are completely irrelevant to battlegrounds. stop talking about them. good lord

noone is talking about 1v1 you said hunter are gods and cant be counterd, its in your own comments just go bk a page.
disci can absorb there dmg heal there dmg (on there self or a team mate) kill them and cc them with screams what more of a counter do you want?

i think you are just confused about what a "counter" is. for example - hunters counter warriors in this bracket. they can dps them from range all day and warriors cannot stop them or protect their healers. mages counter healers in this bracket. there are almost no instant cast heals at 20, so it's very easy for mages to control healers with counterspell.
priests wandering around midfield DPSing hunters is not "countering" them. nor is their ability to throw up a shield so they don't die in 3 GCDs to a hunter. yes, they are *effective* against hunters. but this is not a "counter".

i actually totally disagree with this. while i'm only barely out of the "you suck AND you have sheety gear" category, I've never done crazy damage. ..issue being we don't get an opener until 22 so that leaves us with 4 hits before we're out of energy and have to start improvising. If I don't kill the opponent in those 4 hits (and that's largely dependent on crits), my chances of success plummet (and that's almost always the case with plate).
- Mangle, Rake, Mangle, Ferocious Bite --> is hardly ever enough to swiftly kill an opponent.
- Mangle, Rake, Mangle, Mangle...wait for more energy...Mangle (to top off at 5 combo points)....wait for more energy...Ferocious bite --> takes a long-arse time and I usually die
- You can throw in DoTs and HoTs to #2 and do some more damage and increase your own survivability while waiting on more energy to get your 5 combo points...IF you have a decent 1v1 opponent that isn't totally OP'ing you, but its still spread over time and definitely doesn't qualify as "crazy"
