Might as well copy the league of legends format where every team goes against each other twice and their scores determine weather they going into semifinals. But ofc they have 16 teams so it would be much much faster.
I agree that would be a cool idea.

The finals are the finals. No need for second chances at that point. Sudden death and all that. Giving the winner's bracket team an extra win to start with is ample compensation.
It's just weird that they're editing the format? Why not follow through with the double elimination system? Like what are the arguments for not doing so?

Just do the smart thing and make the "double elimination" tournament actually double elimination to avoid any controversy. It shouldn't be a very difficult decision to make, it's the only option that makes sense and is fair/consistent (in regard to the rest of the tournament) to the team who advances through the winners bracket. The current format of best of 7 with 1 win advantage effectively punishes the team from the winners bracket, as others have already explained

If the correct format happens, imo it should also be two best of 3 series in finals. knowing how 19 premades go, two best of 5 series will last like 6+ hours if they go the full length

There are infact 2 streams one winners and 1 losers bracket, I did not know this before my calculation. It means we will have about 5 hours of played time per day due to double streams making it nearly halfed in time. The reason we dont want two Bo3 finals is that the finals could end in 2 wins, who would want that?

But 2 x Bo5 means games ends in 3 games tops and/or we could have multiple series. Bo7 + 1 vs 2 x Bo5 the maximum time difference is about 2 hours and that means the finals are INSANELY close, who wouldn't want to watch that?

2 x Bo5 makes it so it becomes a real double elimination tournament, also provides no matter the outcome, a good series to watch. And time wise, it can be done easily.

Thing is if you have seen neaps video lindenkron brought up some great points, having an advantage is moronic ie having and advantage game wise. But it is still unfair for the winners bracket whom put a large amount of effort in to not drop a single series. Which is why 2 x Bo5 is one of the most fair and enjoyable viewing options.

If winners bracket wins, it takes them 3 games to win overall. If the losers bracket is strong enough to strive through, they will win the two series. I think any kind of extra win is moronic. But the winners bracket losing their life instantly is worse.

unfortunately, to solve this problem, the best way to handle it would be to have the tournament over three days. unfortunately, we cannot do that. i think this is a pretty good middle ground.

When I did my first calculation it was based of 1 stream, there are 2, it all can easily be done in 2 days.

It's easy for anyone to "calculate" how long the tournament should last theoretically, but as we saw last year, these things unfortunately just don't stay on schedule.

2x bo5 sounds cool on paper but it's not really realistic. people get burnt out and start playing like garbage after that many intense matches in a row, not even including series they might have to play before finals. when's the last time you saw a team play 10+ wargames in a row? most practice series only last 3-4 games, and a large part of that is because players get burnt out. it's just not possible to play at your best for such a long period of time, especially if you're playing against a strong team and having close games.

it's ideal if we showcase teams playing at their best, not showcasing which teams have the most stamina and can play wow for 8-10 hours on Sunday night. I for one would rather not have to sit there until 5 am like last year as well.

If Blackout keeps to his word (the word he said in neaps video) where they make sure if the team isn't ready on time they throw the game then yes, everything will be done in time EASILY. Lets exclude finals in these calculations, 3 games times 22 mins times 13 games + 5 mins times 13 games for some set up time/breathing room. 15.5 hours of games. Divide that by approximately 2 because we have a losers and winners bracket stream that's 7 hours of games, lets give the benefit of the doubt and say that's 10 hours because there is a mishap etc. 5 hours per day excluding finals. I think we can manage a fair finals of 2 x Bo5.

And we are starting on 12pm each day, if the commentators where willing to or people really wanted we could potentially get interviews for every game, but I think the finals should suffice.

If we get both rounds 1 and 2 out of the way in the first day, that is a total of 10 games, there would be a remaining of 4 - 5 games including the finals, depending on the format.

I don't know if you were listening when wuzuyang said 10 games will burn teams out.
1. who wants to watch 2 burned teams fighting exhaustion more than they are fighting each other
2. it's not fair on the players and not at a competitive level anymore when they can't be given the opportunity to play at the'r best

1. 2 x Bo5 could potentially save 1 game. Or increase the duration of a max 2 hours.
2. The effective time of games total, not even a singular team, is about 5 hours per day. And they did this the day before, I don't see how they can't do it again.

2 x Bo5 makes it even. Provides a solid finals and there is no + 1 stuff.

Well on the bright side, we wont have a Ping team this year trying to DQ their every opponent, and stalling the games
