The prize will be paid directly into the paypal account of the Team Leader of the Winners team. If this proves to be an issue, further discussion between the Tournament Hosts and the Winning team will decide how the payment will be made.

We have hand selected six teams that we are given direct invites to participate in this year's cup, one of which will be the returning champions of the Twink Cup 2015.

These invites guarantee the selected teams a spot in this year's line-up. Team Roster signups begin upon creation of this thread with immediate effect (May 1st 2016). The signups will last for four weeks to the day and thus will close at midnight of May 28th 2016 EST. Warsong
The platform that we will be using to organize and manage the competing teams in the Warsong Gulch section of the tournament will be Challonge(link).

The tournament will be using a Double Elimination Format(link).

Within this format, teams will be expected to play in a best of three (BO3) series for all games that they participate in up until the Grand Finals. In the Grand Finals the two remaining teams will battle it out in a best of seven (BO7) series, with the team who progressed through the winner's (upper) bracket beginning the series with a +1 game advance.

This means that the team which progressed into the finals through the Winner's (Upper) Bracket is required to win three games in order to win the entire tournament, and the team that progressed into the finals through the Loser's (Lower) Bracket is required to win four games in order to win the entire tournament.

The platform that we will be using to organize and manage the competing teams in the Warsong section of the tournament will be Challonge(link).

The tournament will be using a Round Robin format(link).

Within this format, each team will be facing off against every other team participating in the tournament ONCE until the Semi Finals and the Finals.

Once all teams have faced each other ONCE the total wins and total loses will be calculated and the teams with the better win to loss ratios will be ranked higher on the scoreboard.

In the case of more than one team having the same amount of wins to losses, the way that the rankings on the leader board will be deciphered will be by referring back to when the teams in question fought against each other and whichever team emerged victorious in that series will be the team ranked in the higher position.

Once the leader board has been finalized there will be a Semi Finals and a Finals to follow. The two teams that are ranked in Second and Third position on the leader board will face off for a second time in a Best of FIVE series and the victor will go head to head in the finals against the team that is ranked FIRST on the leader board. The finals will be a Best of SEVEN with NO advantage to the team who is ranked first on the leader board.

In the 'Best of THREE' games that will be taking place it is required that all teams play ALL THREE matches regardless of the score after two games are played.

General Rules
  • If two competing teams are of the same faction, each team will play from both the Alliance and the Horde faction's side ONCE and in the event that the series comes to a 3rd deciding game, the faction side that each team will play on in that game will be determined by coin toss. In the finals, the faction’s side will alternate until the very last game of the series, which will be decided by coin toss. The first game of the series will be decided by the random faction selection generator that is implemented into the wargaming feature.
  • In the case of a tie game for a series the game will be replayed to give each team a second change of emerging victorious. In the event that there is TWO tied games in a row, to determine who will win the series will go into a THIRD game of SUDDEN DEATH. The rules of sudden death is, first team to score a kill on the enemy team, wins. In the case that this happens both teams will have to remain to play the same team composition as they have done in the previous game.
  • Any form of abuse towards the hosts, commentators or any of the authority will not be tolerated. It is each player's job to be able to communicate with respect and to be as cooperative as possible. This is deemed NWL etiquette and an individual or a team may receive cautions or any of the league's punishments depend on the severity of the abuse.
  • In the situation where a player on a team happens to get disconnected and unable to rejoin the game or "DDoS'D", each team is allowed to request a replay of that game ONCE per series. To be eligible for a replay the gates must not have opened as when the gates are open the game is considered underway and thus is not eligible to be restarted. If your team is in doubt that a final/number of players will be ready to play upon the opening of the gates then your team must initiate leaving the game before the gates open. If using your replay in this instance requires that more than one consecutive “leave and requeue” is necessary to have both teams inside the game with 10 people on each team that is permitted.
  • Upon request or necessity of a game restart/replay, the teams will keep requeueing until the teams factions are the same as what they was in the game that is being restarted/replayed.
  • Any behavior that would be considered strange, mechanically manipulative, or non-objective oriented is not permitted and may result in a penalty.
  • Deadly Boss Mods addon is NOT allowed.
  • No software violating Blizzard’s ToS is permitted.
  • Anyone can play any character on any account, as long as they are signed up on your roster. When you sign players up to your roster you are signing the player up and not just the character.
  • It is imperative that all teams that are in an up and coming game that is to be broadcasted use the voice client Discord.

The definition of a 'Jump' is as followed:
"Using the jump function (Default keybind: Spacebar) twice or more consecutively and/or in a sequence in an attempt to access a different location on the map to gain a tactical, advantageous position over the enemy team."
and/or
"Using invisible ledges combined with the jump function to access a different location on the map than where the individual was before the use of the first jump."

The jumps shown in the video below are exclusively the ones permitted in the Twink Cup 2016. Any jump that is not in the video is strictly forbidden and will result in a warning or penalty in accordance to its severity.

Footage by @Devm_eu
Du6A7W4.png

There are going to be numerous levels of severity when it comes to punishment when breaking the rules. The punishments will be split into three levels of severity. If a punishment of the same nature occurs three times throughout the course of the tournament, the next level of punishment will be awarded. This is based around the universally known “Three Strikes” rule.

Game Loss
Minor: If any individual does anything that is considered illegal that does not/did not have any direct impact on the direction, flow or result of the game will be given a warning. A warning is merely a slap on the wrist, however if a team collectively throughout the whole duration of the tournament gets THREE warnings it will result in a loss of the next available game to the team. Repeatedly offending at the warning level of severity will result in the tournament hosts to decide a sufficient punishment.

Major: If any individual does anything that is considered illegal that has a direct impact on the direction or result of the game will instantly lose that specific game regardless of the actual victor. If a team happens to get THREE "Major" punishments collectively throughout the course of the tournament it will result in instant removal from the tournament. In the game where the final major offense has been committed, players will be expected to play out the rest of the game as normal.

Disqualification
If an individual, team or anyone with direct association to a team (i.e someone on the roster, whether they are in the game or not) performs an action that has an extreme effect on a game and it’s outcome will be punished by disqualification from the tournament. Things on this level of severity are things as follows:
  • Using game mechanics in a way that was unintended to be used in such a way, such as gaining a competitive advantage in the battleground i.e. Destroying one's Hearthstone and using the "Stuck" feature to be able to choose where you wish to body resurrect.
  • Use of third party software that is deemed against the Terms of Service that every player agrees to when playing World of Warcraft.
  • DDoS attacks or any form of harassment that can cause a player to not be able to take part in the game commencing.
  • Absolutely anything that breaks Activision Blizzard Entertainment's Terms of Service
  • Failure to comply with what is asked of you by the tournament organizers. E.g. to use the voice client Discord.
haW0ln1.png

Discord is the compulsory voice client that you must use in games that are to be broadcasted. Discord servers are hosted on various centralized servers making it impossible for other players on the server to obtain your IP address and thus safe from DDoS. This does not mean that you cannot be DDoS'd, it means that no one can obtain your IP address through the program. If you get DDoS'd your IP address has been obtained through other sources.

Every team will have their own designated channel that other teams cannot enter.
(You are welcome to join the NWL Discord any time you want!)

All players taking part in the games being played MUST be in their teams respective Discord Channel. No person can enter a teams Discord Channel at ANY TIME during the event with the exception of the NWL Administrators but ONLY when the respective team IS NOT partaking in a game in progress. Whilst the games are in play team members are permitted to have their microphones set to MUTE but NOT set to DEAFEN.

All players are expected to ensure the safety of their own connection. We at the NWL advise that on the day of the tournament that you change your IP address if possible and to not use programs such as Skype or any other program that can expose your IP address until the tournament has ended. Do not forget to remove/sign out from such programs on your cellular devices that are connected to your internet connection via WiFi. If you have a static IP address you can contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and ask them to change the IP address for you. If your ISP refuses to change your IP address, threaten to cancel your internet plan with them and that will nine times out of ten persuade them to change the IP address for you. We recommend that you ask to speak to the on site Technician and explain that you are suffering heavily from DDoS attacks (even if you are not) and that your current IP address is unusable and that you may as well not have an internet connection at this point in time because of it. This will further convince your ISP representatives that your circumstances are plausible enough to get an IP change.

Very professional post.

I do not agree with forcing teams to use discord so you can stream team coms potentially leaking strats.

I don't think that 6-10 seconds of voice snippets from a voice chat with a 3 minute stream delay is going to give away any strategies that another team can capitalize on. It greatly enhances stream quality, all of the top tournament hosts use the same system. It creates a lot of hype for the viewers and adds to the experience for them. Also the voice snippets will be mid fight, such as mid team fight and not at a time when a team will be discussing key strategies. Like at the beginning of a game before the gates open for example.

just imagine how its going to look when someone is yelling profanities or saying things they wouldnt say infront of anyone but their team except you are blasting the whole of the community with it. at the end of a series or something yeah okay hop into their coms but mid game is just silly

just really iffy on when and how this is going to be used

and/or
"Using invisible ledges combined with the jump function to access a different location on the map than where the individual was before the use of the first jump."

Please rewrite it so a 'Jump' doesn't require using the jump function once, but twice instead.
Right now, by your rules, small and irrelevant jumps that players will do without thinking about it will be banned.

Awesome post, thanks for everything laid out clean and organized.

What was the thought behind opening up druid/monk slots to allow 3 of each class?

just imagine how its going to look when someone is yelling profanities or saying things they wouldnt say infront of anyone but their team except you are blasting the whole of the community with it. at the end of a series or something yeah okay hop into their coms but mid game is just silly

just really iffy on when and how this is going to be used

^I think if we want to use discord to improve the quality of the streaming event, this is a really good point if you want to hold professionalism of the broadcast. Us tinks have dirty fucking mouths, and I haven't brushed this week.

Part of me really likes this idea of discord for communication between teams/leaders/admins if it needs to happen, the main issue I thought of when i read this in the post is the reality of every person participating in the tournament to be able to functionally run Discord. Could put teams in a jam if they have a handful of players that can't get in.

Looking forward to the tournament, thanks for putting the thread together.

13sp on bracers is banned right?
Well concidering Animist Carress is banned, I will guess 13 SP is banned as well, GSC only had 1x Animist carress and 0x 13 SP enchants while other team(s) has like 5+ members with 13sp on their roster? Pretty sure 13 SP is banned but unsure my self
