The 19s bracket may be about to get a huge influx of players...

Hey 19s, I wanted to make you guys aware of something we're talking about over on the F2P forum, in case you haven't caught wind of this yet.

In 6.1, Blizzard is going to change subscriber accounts such that when they are not currently under paid game time, instead of the account being frozen, it will instead retain the same restricted gameplay that start accounts have. Meaning playable characters up to level 20, etc.

Now IF Blizzard doesn't mess with a player's XP-on, XP-off setting when their account time lapses, it could mean that people could keep playing 19s with their very same characters while not subscribed. You even get to stay in your guild, and add new characters to a guild if one of your paid-time characters is in that guild.

This means that it might be possible for you guys to keep playing your 19s even if your subscription time runs out. You wouldn't be able to access any character over level 20, so you would need to have your character already BIS with enchants and stuff, but it might be a nice option if money gets tight for you.

But the big thing I wanted to bring to you guys's attention is that these unpaid benefits apply to every former subscriber that's ever been in the game. That means that there could be potentially thousands of former PvPers who would now be able to play in the 19s without paying, thus growing your community by huge bounds!

This all hinges on how Blizzard handles the XP switch when going from your paid to unpaid status, so for sure this is something to test when 6.1 hits. Personally I think they shouldn't mess with it, because it wouldn't be fair if a 19 has to let their subscription lapse for a month that they come back and find they have to re-lock all their characters again. So that might be something you can bring up with Blizzard, if they do force all non-paid accounts into an XP-on state. But let's hold out hope that they don't, because it will mean a potential huge increase in the activity in your bracket! I know even a good portion of the F2Ps will take this option if it means being able to play at the top level of a bracket.

Anyway, just wanted to pass that along and hopefully brighten your weekend a little. Check out the blue posts on the subject on WoWhead if you want to stay on top of this latest development!

I'd take pops with the Jajas over whiny malicious alliance today that currently kills all wsg pugs with alliance war games cause they think they lose too often.

on the other hand the jajas may reign

I doubt it. They would have to have their account active for at least a month in order to shut off xp because afaik XP on/off is still restricted to P2P accounts only, therefore if they went to that extent to cap their xp at 19, they would also have gone to the extent to get as geared as they could. 99% of them will not add time to their account just to shut their xp off at 19. If/when the 1% does activate their account to cap xp, they will be semi-geared. my 2c

I am sorry but blizzard don't want to lose money as we are all forgetting its a business even though this is great research blah blah they'll find a way to screw us over

The reason we actually que alliance wargames is because we are tired of farming the idiotic horde players all day long, even when they end up with 4-6 disc priests every game.

Alliance vs. Horde...you RP'ers kill me.

Anyway, still to lazy to read blizzard's blue colored lies. Will characters over level 20 be inaccessible? Or do you all figure 19s will be popular just because their inherent popularity?

Odd because any objective person would agree that the alliance loses quite a bit more than horde does. Sure maybe your 5man group wins more than it loses, but then again nobody is group queueing on horde really.

As far as discs, yes there's too many horde. I've been one since what current noobs refer to ironically as "vanilla" so I'm not changing for anyone.

Many of us stick with one faction (at least primarily - I do it exclusively) rather than jumping to the "winning" side on any given night. But given the propensity of that behavior and afking in this bracket, I can see why you got confused.

Some people choose to log over to the losing side as well...

i just hope the f2ps realize that 19s is a better place for them than 20-29, i understand the fun of being an underdog but 19s is a place where they can be on the same level as p2ps.

For me the only thing that gives me pause is not having a mount. Isn't that silly? But many years ago I did have a few 19s I was building. If Veteran F2Ps go like we are hoping, and they don't mess with XP-on/off settings, I'm sure I will make a character or two for the 19s.

Just a thought, and I'm reminded of debate some time ago about using an exploit that was later quashed with minor bans. Using free accounts in ways that don't affect paying customers doesn't seem to bother Blizzard (i.e. f2pchat addon). However, in this case paid 19's might resent free 19's and even unsubscribe to take like advantage. There are other reasons why I don't think this will happen (and you know that), but I just wanted to put this here.

For me its the opposite. I dont like having mounts on a twink. Even though arathi without isnt the best thing.

You got speed enchants, to back and boots, giving even slow classes 120% movement speed. So you got that going for you, which is nice. I'm currently gearing a lock, and while it's a little slow for getting around in the world, you can really tell how much faster you are in dungeons, relative to everyone else.

And if you've really got to go somewhere, and you've got a linked account with a multi-passenger mount, you can always log on your f2p with the mount, and dual box yourself a ride.
