EU+US Starter edition accounts is now the same as an inactive legion account

system banks your exp up to 10 levels.

Some people said upgrading with locked exp works. some people said differently.
You still going to level if you unlock exp after upgrading while having active account.

Also blizz wont inform you about free wow promotion events before they start.
So that exp lock wont do you much good when that happens.

Yes, that's precisely what I was saying. Works differently on p2ps tho. They don't bank xp for some reason. (or didn't, idk if the patch changed anything.)

when last free promotion came out i was online and in a dungeon.
started lag as hell and eventually got disconnected.
up on reloging just started to gain exp. info/mail came later.

You basically have to pay attention 100% of time and that is something that just wont happen.
Rely years of effort on hopes of some gm deleveling you. dream.

Also it doesnt say like 48hr at the launcher how much gametime you have. Just the same as before but you gain xp.

To be fair, they havent done a sudden free game time promotion in years. If memory serves, the last one was because of a pretty serious fuckup with server outages or the payment processing or something.

The last one I can remember was the free weekend for inactive account that was like a month ago, but you had to consciously sign in for that. I still logged an alt first just to be sure, but yea. I think the likelihood of you being granted unexpected free game time is pretty low.

Nah midsummer was auto. All accounts were full accounts regardless if they had time or not

Pure f2p/trial accounts switched to full accounts too? Or only accounts that had game time in the past?

This latest change to accounts wasn't implemented yet so that promotion only effected veteran accounts.
However there has been cases where some f2p accounts just turned in to active for no reason.

I'm 100% f2p and didn't have anything mid summer. My starter account was active through the last year of WOD and all of Legion and never got free game play.

I'm not sure about my old end game account. Ive logged it maybe twice in the past three years

Also, Light. Why feel sorry? You realize most people who are pure F2P are doing such by choice and want to do what they can to keep that?

I have 2 accounts I pay for and have had since 2004, and been subbed non stop to on. I play those for an entirely different reason than why I play my F2P account.
