Special Unit Puggers - brainstorming thread

like like a box of chocolates?!!!!! mmmm

Prizes will be shrimp-based dishes. Shrimp sandwich, shrimp gumbo, shrimp burger, shrimp creole, shrimp kebobs.. stuff like that.

Do we get extra points if your team has a matching mog(uniform)?

I debated back and forth on this one but I figure if you have matching mogs your likelihood for an epic win is already much higher. Bonus points would be redundant.

This is going to happen by the way. Cheesetoast and I are in talks about how it will all go down. We're currently discussing the very important issue of what the name of our matching threads will be. I think we're doing away with the whole "Special Units" thing and going with "F2P Tournament". Everyone gets excited about a Tournament after all.

We'll have a rankings/winners thread and I believe Cheesetoast will be converting his Competitive Games thread into an Opponent Finder/Skype info/Premade Set-ups thread.

Also thinking about how to include EU and whether or not we need another person who plays EU to host their own thread

Just a thought - generally what you do to encourage people to queue when they're new is to increase the change in rating for winning and decrease the change in rating for losing.

You can use an elo calculator found here.

Good idea. The points system can become more fine-tuned as we go. Eventually points can be adjusted based on who you're playing, etc. Planning on lowering the negative points a bit as well.

2 man group can be much more fun when you can swing a bg to victory.

But 10 premade vs 10 premade is most telling of skill because then you rule out other factors like 24s and pugs. I like the idea tho so have fun.

I like the idea in principle, but balancing and quantifying the effects that 24's have on a game is extremely difficult. If anything, I'd say that 24's should have a multiplicative effect on the changes in rating, as opposed to purely additive. I.E., if the enemy team has 2 more 24's than your team, the changes in rating have an (1.0 - 0.2 = 0.8) 80% multiplier applied to them.

That's a good idea as well. Right now I've got my mind set on only adding bonus points/deducting points if there's a 3 or more 24 advantage. Then it will be +10 or -10 for each 24 advantage/disadvantage, no matter which team wins.

I might need your help making a better ratings system but here's what I have so far:

2v2: +50 pts
3v3: +70 pts
4v4: +90 pts
5v5: +110 pts
6v6: +130 pts
7v7: +150 pts
8v8: +170 pts
9v9: +190 pts
10v10: +210 pts

LOSSES
2v2: -35 pts
3v3: -50 pts
4v4: -65 pts
5v5: -80 pts
6v6: -95 pts
7v7: -110 pts
8v8: -125 pts
9v9: -140 pts
10v10: -155 pts

CAPS
+20 per cap
-15 per cap allowed

P2P/24s
If the difference between the number of p2ps/24s on one team is 3 or more than the other team (example 4 24s on 1 team, only 1 24 on the other team) then the team with the 24 disadvantage will receive 10 bonus points per 24, and the team with the advantage will receive -10 points per 24.

The first 2 p2ps/24s won't be counted unless there is a third p2p/24 disadvantage. If this happens, take a screenshot at the start of the game.

These bonus/negative points will be given no matter which team wins.

How about this:

Points won= x
Points lost= y, where y is 60% of x

I apologize for the math:(
