Say that again ? you are saying that 1 million gold for the entire set isn't a lot ? Because that's more or less that. And if you are saying that, then I would say odds are said gold has been obtained outside the ToS. Oh sorry, Beats on fourteens. My mistake, not gonna expect any miracles.
No, I think you would be surprised with how much gold people have. The Traveler's Tundra Mount in Wrath seemed crazy out of reach at the beginning of the expansion. But near the end, it was very obtainable. And we are near the beginning of MoP, a new expansion and new gold inflation. It may take a while to get into that mindset, but 100k is not a lot. The new Traveler's Tundra Mount is 120k (the yak). Maybe a lot for some, not for others, but it will get more managable as time goes on. Also, there are many people with 1,000,000 gold and even multiple millions. The 100,000-500,000 range isn't for the "elite AH flippers" anymore. Truthfully, I do believe that 728k (no ring) would be high (for me) for tier 3, but some people may justify it and it may be in their grasp - no gold buying required.
More on-topic, for once I am glad to be on a small population server. I got the Dreamwalker head piece for 10k and the Earthshatter pants for 10k. The highest price I have seen for any T3 item was 11,020 gold. Most go unpurchased.
EDIT: We have had on the BMAH, for as long as I have been stationed there: Druid head (sold for 10k), Shaman pants (sold for 10k), Mage belt (unsold), Warlock belt (currently up for 11,020 gold), Warrior boots (10k, no bids), Paladin shoulders (unsold), and Priest gloves (unsold).
EDIT 2: Warlock belt sold for 11,020. Warrior boots were not purchased. Will check again in the the morning and update. Not that it really matters, since all the possible items are known. But for completion's sake.
