Practically all I do is pug.
I would state just the opposite. "Most" of the better people prefer to solo queue, as they prefer not to rely on other players. It is quite easy to make yourself appear to be good when queueing with a group. But it is a whole different kettle of fish to be good when you queue alone.

Strange, I find it the opposite. I feel that when you are in a premade, there is a certain expectation to fulfill that team role. And if you don't live up to it, it sort of marks you. But if you play pugs, you're sort of playing it safe, regardless if you win or lose. You're still the well-geared "cool guy" in the group, that only loses because of the rest of the team. And people often make that assumption. But I suppose the ones that carry a random have that distinction and break free from that label. But yea, if players truly want to test their skills as a team, wargame sis the way to go.
