I’d hate to be the “build your own for 700-1000 and it will be worth it” kind of guy, but it will. 200-300 down on this is 200-300 you could have towards an even better PC.

Going minimal sucks, especially when pc runs into performance decreases and games constantly require higher specs over patches/xpacs.

But idk maybe someone here could give you a direct answer. But my guess is no, at least not practically. You’ll run into issues with high population densities in cities or other areas (especially on patch releases). As well as raids and world bosses.

Well I mainly just que arenas and bgs

What’s your thought on this 500$ tower

That seems good tbh. And if you ever wanna upgrade something, you can just replace some parts. That’s the great thing about custom computers as opposed to retail all-in-one pc’s which typically are hard to replace parts that fit.

I made the mistake of buying a 700$ hp computer to have it crap out 2 years later and scrap most of the things including motherboard, case, power supply, etc. finally built my own and no longer worry about compatibility and space issues.

I also got this case. Good space and a place to organize wires in the back.

U can prob get it cheaper somewhere else.

That’s great for checking prices, compatibility, and building.

Building a pc can take you maybe a day or 2. But it’s worth it since you get a good sense of what makes your pc works and what can go wrong. Well, if you don’t already know.

Right now that comp would run WoW the way you want. With BFA, they increased the minimum system requirements. I do not think those specs would run WoW the way you want. That is a sweet deal tho I must say, nice snipe. I wanna buy it, haha!

No. Even with low graphics, you wouldn't be able to pull the standards that you would be looking for if you want to be serious about it.

My advice would be to save enough money to get a good PC instead of paying for something half-assed. That, or build your own PC. There are plenty of Youtube videos on how to do it, and good reddit threads too. I would link you some stuff, but I only know Scandinavian sites when it comes to PC stuff.

Most are correct you can build a decent pc for under a grand, but walmart does have sales. Keep checking the clearance/rollback option and you will find a pc in no time.

$500 got me 12gb ram, 4gb nivida and a i7, from walmart. Not the greatest but more than enough for WoW.

  • A decent GPU with fan + heatsink - I'm partial to NVIDIA
  • 4gb of RAM at a minimum
  • Four processors at a minimum
  • A full-size case with at least 2x120mm or 3x80mm case fans
  • A clean, professional application of thermal paste under the processors
That first one you linked is no good. It has integrated graphics, two slower Celeron chips that overheat, and a slim case with bad airflow. Walmart only sells cheap junk and you'll regret purchasing a PC there tbh. If you're on a budget, check out factory refurbs online or your local pawn shop. Alternatively, you may be able to upgrade your current machine instead of replacing it, especially if you feel comfortable swapping parts yourself.

Yeah I use AMD. Though Intel as of lately has been stepping up, but only with their newer processors which are pretty high-end.

well not exactly

intel has been the better choice until the whole meltdown and spectre thing
along with other factors

in the past intel was known as the CPU with finesse
their hyperthreading was more streamlined and cost effective to produce than the clunky simultaneous multi threading present in AMD CPUs in the early 2000s (HT and SMT essencially perform the same role)

while AMD focused on shoving more cores into their chips
which made those CPUs huge power hogs
however AMDs new ryzen line of CPUs is on par with intel as far as performance according to benchmarks
and the power consumption is down
finesse could only take intel so far so even they started going with more cores in their recent CPUs

of course all this is irrelevant for gaming because most games run on a single core
which is why i5 over i7 was the smarter intel choice in the past for pure gaming PCs

regardless
the hotfix for the recently discovered vulnerabilities eats up a good chunk of the intel CPU's computing power
i am not willing to pay for a CPU when building a computer that has anything more than 5% deficiency in overall performance out of the box

this is a problem AMD has not had with their chip design
despite being known as the power hog AMD is the better choice if you wanted to overclock
and they are overall cheaper
there is a reason consoles have been using AMDs chipseet in this era
and intel is reserved for overpriced snob badge laptops

At the moment a lot of parts are very expensive so building your own pc might not be the best route. Look into prebuits with a dedicated graphics card and at least a quad core cpu at stores like Microcenter, Frys, or even Bestbuy because they all have good in person customer service if anything ever goes wrong unlike Walmart.

You don’t need anything top of the line like an i7 or 1080 or even a SSD for WoW.
