might seem like a dumb question, but why would you wear cloth on a leather class? Doesn't it have to be leather in order to grant stats in BGs/arena?

No template currently on BFA. The armor bonus from the spellbook is also at lvl 50+, so doesn't matter at 19. A lot of the endgamers are currently loving the no template system, so hopefully it stays.

In addition to the answer that there are currently no templates in the BfA PTR/beta, even now you can wear cloth on a leather class and it will give stats. Wearing all leather just happens to give you a 5% boost to your primary stat. But a cloth helm is better than no helm - as it gives the base stats for your template.
