Every player that played a bg during the olympics.....Not played in general at that time alot of people didnt realize that you got the pet/tabard and alot of people missed out on it
 
Minfernal and Scourched Whelpling really aren't that rare. You can just use the CRZ bug to get Minfernal pretty much instant and tons of Scourched Whelplings spawn after the weekly server resets.
 
Not really at that time the bgs were battlegroup only, alot of bgs didnt have active low lvl bgs and took alot to get a bg happening (my server for instance couldnt get a pop even if I spammed trade) I was a twink at the time and I mainly did duels and world pvp

Whoa, never had that problem in '08, maybe before xrealm BG's, but never since it was battlegroup wide.

Not going to mention unobtainable pets nor TCG ones that cost 100+ Dollars

Keep in mind guys that with Battle-Stones you can capture the breed you want and ignore the rarity. There's no sense in capturing all of the spawns looking for a "rare" and ruining anyone else from even obtaining a "poor" quality one. I capture the first one I see and then if I find a rare I'll capture it, otherwise I'll forfeit so someone else can be thrilled to finally obtain one of these pets. Due to CRZ they can be very difficult to find. However on my server (Akama merged with Tichondrius) I was able to find all of them in the first day with the exception of Kun-Lai Runt. I had gotten very lucky since I know many people spend days looking for these. Read my elaboration on NPCScan in my thread to see how I made it easier for myself

My rarest pets are my vanilla / TBC CE pets and my Tyraels hilt
 
I guess this thread is kind of old, but it was on the first page, so whatever.

I have a spirit of competition. All I wanted to add to what has already been said was, it wasn't from just one bg. I had to run bgs a lot to get it, and I didn't get one on all my toons that ran bgs at the time. It was indeed from running battlegroup bgs. 10 to 30 minute wait, usually. Longer at night. I can't remember if I the orc warlock I got it on was 19 or a 29. He had better than average but by no means BIS gear, but that wasn't important.

I'd put the Hyacinth Macaw as a frustratingly rare pet. Guess you can buy em for a ton of gold, now and then, but farming them directly takes a tolerance for monotony I simply can't rise to, and I've done a lot of tedious grinding with this game.
