OG
Hello everyone. My name is Medanx and this is my story.
I got bored today and desided to watch some of the F2P arena movies me and Aty had when AP F2P started. After watching it and reading the posts in F2P movies thread it struck me how much fun we had and what a great community it was (havent played in a while, not sure what its like now).
I remember the early summer of 2011, when reading on MMO-champ that blizzard would removed the time limit on trials. I immedeately knew it would open up a new twink bracket and that this was big news for the twinking community. After some time I headed over to twinkinfo to see if anyone thought the same as me and found a post where a few people were. I joined in the conversation and after a while everything was set.
Now, summer of 2011 feels like many years go.
It was such a tight community, no trolls and everyone, both horde and alliance, were as a single third faction consisting of trials. For me, F2P was like the feeling of starting to play wow when it first came out.
EPIC, new and exiting. Having to grind enchanting for +15 health to chest, +1 stam bracers etc. or getting max leatherowrking for armor patches that gave 8 more armor <3 just felt good
Basically no one had twinked at 20 before, and it was a totally different environment then 19 (even though its just 1 level). F2P attracted people looking for a challenge, people that didnt just want to own nubs with a huge gear and enchants advantage, but by generally playing their chars to its upmost potentional and doing all the gear and profession grinding without help from a main.
The classes were actually balanced to some degree (lack of BOAs perhaps) and the burst was low (because of no OP enchants) and the randoms were no where near as scrubby as they would be if the F2P didnt have its restrictions.
WSG was epic as ever, we didnt see 7 hunters topping the charts (EDIT: or an abundance in holy paladins ), classes were fairly even distributed. In most games you knew players on the people you fought with and against, feared them and respected them. The games were more then just a honor grind, it was personal.
I miss old F2P and I miss playing with and against you. Its a shame F2P wil never be the same again.
Thanks for the nice times, hard BGs and epic arenas, I had a blast
Many of you know Im notoriusly bad with names, and I cant find the post that Leosdesap (dont remember how to write your name, sorry) made contaning all the names. So Im not going to mention any names, you people already know your own names and the fact that I enjoyed playing against you.
