PvP Priest (Primarily Shadow) BiS List

Hello my fellow 70 twinks!
For the past years I have been maining SP at max level (2k+ exp), but with max level being terrible (imo) these days, ive decided to take up twinking. I just reached 70 and have been researching gear for a few hours, and this is what i found and believe to be BiS for Priest for PvP. This "guide" will not be featuring Enchants since there is already another post with BiS Enchants and Gems on the forums (for all classes) already.

You will find that I did not fill in the trinket slots, but I put all interesting trinkets in the "Things You Might Consider". Reason for this is what you are doing (Arena, BG, Duel) and which class you are facing, has ALOT to do with what trinkets will be the best.

Personally for Arenas and Bgs I will probably mainly be Using "Abyssal Rune" and "Quagmirran's Eye".
"Timbal's Focusing Crystal" could be very good for spread pressure in BGs.
For 1v1 and duels "Earring of Soulful Meditation" could potentially be VERY good because of how bursty the bracket is. Also Combined with "Skull of Gul'dan" could potentially be BiS for Duels, because it lets you have the effects on demand.

I have not check all quest rewards / Proffesions / Reputation items before making this list, so if anyone has anything to add please do so in the thread below so we can all get better and learn something new.
I hope this "Guide" will atleast give you some pointers as to where to start when gearing your priest for 70 twinking. I might also make a post on talents, why and how you use them and for what scenarios, but that will be in the future as 70 and max level is quite diffrent.

Thank you in advance for the feedback you may have!

As @Blackberryy said, you should consider https://www.wowhead.com/item-set=571/whitemend-wisdom , and also https://www.wowhead.com/item-set=552/wrath-of-spellfire sets. You end up sacrificing some stamina and secondaries (and a meta socket if using whitemend), but end up stacking a ton of spellpower.

Fair warning, they are expensive if bought, and will take you a solid few hours of super boring farming to craft. Note also that whitemend locks you into having Tailoring as one of your professions.

A combination of a 1h mace + offhand can also end up better than the staff, due to offhand Int enchant giving you an extra 14 Int. If you are lucky enough to have https://www.wowhead.com/item=37033/manual-of-the-tides proc purple (or even blue), it will most likely be BiS.

Whitemend is bis for all specs and also so is pendant of the violet eye
I believe I do have Pendant of the Violet Eye in there, but I had read it wrong, I didn't see that it said "Use:" and not "Equip:" which does make it ALOT better for 1v1s especially. That in combination with "Earring of Soulful Meditation" would probably be very good.
Also I did say that I had not taken into consideration Proffessions and quest, so I am glad to hear your info on that.
I havn't farmed out all the gear yet, so I am yet to be able to test out my BiS List compared to "Whitemend Wisdom" and "Wrath of Spellfire", but in theory idk how good sacrificing raw stats (haste, vers and stam) would be for more spellpower on a SP in PvP given how squishy and nonbursty SP is unless they can freecast, and you cant build up your insanity if u cant survive long enough, in let's say a 1v1 if you run with glass cannon build.
But as I said, I havn't gotten all the Items yet to test for myself, so I can't say anything for sure jsut yet.
[doublepost=1555770474,1555770347][/doublepost]I do see how its BiS for Warlocks given how tanky and bursty the class is, and mages with their instant insane burst + mobility, but a SP needs alittle time to build up and they are not particulary tank or mobile.
I will defnetly try it out, and probably use it for BGs where I can freecast, but for 2s without a healer of 1v1s, in theory I don't see it working out that well. But as I said, I am yet to test it out.

Edit: Lol i just saw the Whitemend does have versatility on them and Gem slots, you are probably right then.

I forgot to mention this neck/ring combo - quite strong and should be reasonably cheap on the AH. Again you will have to hope for a good ilvl version, but even ilvl 70 is pretty decent - https://www.wowhead.com/item-set=667/the-twin-stars
That looks very good for pure DPS increase, you will lose alittle bit of vers and stam, but you gain 15int from it.
The only problem I have with it is that you lose the "20% interupt / Silence reduction" you get from "Talisman of the Breaker" or "Pendant of the Lost Ages"... in a 1v1 i Believe the 20% reduction vs melee would be best, seeing as it will reduce the time you may spend kicked on a spell (like 5 sec) in to 4seconds, which is a full second. And vs a rogue or something very bursty, that can be a huge diffrence in a duel.

I feel like sp is one of the most, if not the most, tanky classes in the game atm. They always win the 1v1 tourneys

Not saying they just fall over and die, SP is very strong VS casters and they have decent CC, but melees have a really easy time tunneling them down. A really good priest can ofc kill melees, but if they are both equal in skill, the melee will have an easier time.

wrong, a good sp can solo any melee with legit ease. White mend is a huge spellpower increase and you make up the stamina and secondarys in sunwell off pieces and with all the vers you will have in potential gems and gear with the added vers from trinkets, you will have so much damage reduction on top of already being busted that you'll be good.

Well lets agree to disagree. Kick / Interupt / stun when he tries to get his Vampyric touch up and he wont have any pressure or dmg. It also decreases his "tankyness". And with how the bursty the bracket is, he wont last long. Psyfiend gets oneshoted and therefore is basicly useless, and with melees having so much mobility u wont be able to kite them too well. And with rogues and warriors having healing reduction on top of that.. makes the life of the SP hard.
Vampyric touch healing is based on the dmg you deal and if a good melee is on you, they have so many interupts combined with huge burst and mobility, making it hard to get good use of it.
Dispersion is good tho, especially when combined with the 50% HP healing. (But then u wont have speed boost from Shield)

i've been seeing it first hand for the entirety of BFA and i'm telling you, spriest is currently the best 1v1 class

I agree they are strong at max level. 100% they are quite good. Ive played them at 2k+ rating, ik they are good if you are good. But in this bracket they lack things like: Shadow Word: Death, (Mindbender for 1v1s for quick Insanity build up), Legacy of the Void, and you have to choose between Void of Origin and Psyfiend vs melees (since you are basicly locked into Greater Fade(vs melees).

okay, but all other classes lack counters to most all spellcasters esp the extra damage and rot pressure from s priest

I wont even be able to go into voidform (starting from 0 insanity ofc), because I need like 90 Insanity, so my point just got proven.. All you have to do in this bracket is stop my vampyric touch. idk how good other casters are vs melee etc, but melee DO infact have a good time vs SP as long as they just stop or LoS my Vampyric touch.
As I said, SP is very nice vs casters, but in this bracket melee counter SP.

how much experience do you have 1v1ing 70s in this bracket as sp?

Well I have gone thru this bracket with now 2 priests where i have done BGs and Skirmishes, ontop of some dueling along the way ofc, so I believe I acctually do have grounds upon which to stand when it comes to knowing about how it feels playing as and vs a priest in this bracket. While also playing them at Max with 2k+ rating in 2s etc...

You just lost the argument and now you are trying to invalidate what I said based on your "veteran knowledge". -.- xP

And look, I do agree with you that we are VERY good if not OP vs other casters, but lets say a rogue with Healing reduction posion on vs sp... we get fucked

no no, it's a serious question, playing through the bracket is nice and all, but when you add up maxing out a character and actually playing a fully bis spriest set up for 1v1s, the only classes ive ever seen beat the best spriest that i know of, is a ww, and ret. and thats 1/10 times.

Well one of the problems with arguing with what you are saying is that I am unable to discredit what you are saying, because there is no evidence for it. You may or may not have seen someone beat a SP, Idk. So you may or may not have seen what you say you have seen.
Also There might have been a diffrence in gear, and more importantly skill. Let's say you duel a really player who is playing Sp, he kicks your ass, that doesnt mean that SP must be OP. but maybe you just got beat because the SP was infact just a better player.
So what you are saying is that anyone can just pick up priest, get decent and he would destroy anyone in a 1v1... and what I am saying is that that is wrong.

Where's Fx when you need him?
Thought he was only doing PvE BiS lists etc....???

never once did i state a decent spriest beats everyone, but i am telling you that spriest is the only class in the bracket when played perfectly that can counter every other class. I am only saying this because i have seen incredible players lose to even good spriests, the cool thing about 70 is that gear plays a massive role, and there are alot of neat items you can use in trinkets etc as a spellcaster, esp a hybrid to survive. This added to a players skill makes them the most versatile 1v1 class. I agree that you can't pick up the class and beat everyone, but i am telling you that a r1 70 spirest will beat a r1 any other class in a 1v1, i'm not discrediting anything you say and implore you to show me otherwise, but from how much i've seen i disagree with melee countering spriest.
