PTR games

I'd like to occasionally test random bgs and AV to see if strongboxes have been updated with usable gear, and if AV has been tuned correctly. Many people will say "well dont worry its beta/ptr" but that's how stuff goes live, broken, or over looked. Once every week should be enough, which would give us 4 tests until 6.0.2 drops, in theory. It's also important everybody sends in bug reports, testing is great, but the results have to be posted or it's all for naught. I appreciate everyone showing up and doing there part to contribute.
 
Ok, so me and some other friends have recently tried to access PTR (as of as early as 9-12) with no success. We all riddled with errors / maintenance signs or what have you. There may already be an answer to these problems, however i think it'll be great to update the thread with a full response on how to handle them for players currently. On battle.net website, the "transfer char to PTR" page says the option to do so in under maintenance (for the last 4 days atleast). On the battlenet launcher, i try to update my PTR and it says there is an error in doing so, then links me a page to delete my cache which i have done multiple times already. Any tips / tricks on accessing PTR, I'm sure a great amount of players are grateful for any answer at this point, thanks.
 
1. PTR is down for maintenance with no ETA announced. You wont be able to update anything until it's over.

2. Currently it looks like pure trials cannot access the beta, or the PTR. If you are a pure trial and have obtained access too the ptr, could you share how you did so?

3. As for copying your characters over, that is now handled in game. On the character selection screen you'll see a "Copy character" button which copies your account over. Characters that have been inactive for 6+ months cannot be copied but will still show up.
 
So it is back up? my update on battle launcher still says "Whoops looks like something broke, try again". I'll try redownloading the PTR again, however, one of my friends is having trouble accessing servers still. He gets to the server list and upon choosing one, it says something is incompatible and thats as far as he gets. Any clues

I launched it from "Playable" hopefully I didn't mess it up. I'm going to let it finish now. Anyone gotten past these errors? Excuse my ptr noobness...

Happened to me when i had live wow up same time with ptr try closing live wow if its on . if doesnt work then , i got no idea

I'm a pure trial and have all my EU chars copied on PTR, some of them in a guild called Freebies. Regular F2P duels in Elwynn.

You can try deleting your PTR wow and reinstalling. The way it currently works is by copying over files from live wow, and then downloading/installing the extra 8-10gigs. So its a pretty short process.

PTR is down atm, new build inc. ETA 8ish hours, so dont bother trying to install it now.
 
Might be an error with trail accounts? I can access PTR on my linked trial but not my pure f2p trial.

Has anyone been able to get on PTR as a non-linked trial?

I managed to copy my 'pure' F2P toons to PTR. But this was after also doing same on my linked account.

Also my unlinked F2P was already in MoP PTR from the battle.net page, so maybe it's not available to new F2Ps? Or maybe you need to create a PTR account from your account management page on battle.net?

Try the instructions here: Adding PTR to your Battlenet Account - Forums - World of Warcraft but click on the old character copy link instead of going to Additional Services tab, which doesn't appear to be anywhere on a 'pure' F2P account.

It added a PTR account to another unlinked F2P account that didn't have it previously.

Let me know if you managed to replicate this on unlinked account.
 
Tried, no dice. Looks like a fresh trial account doesnt get any copies. Appreciate the effort guys, ill be on in a few to check out the new build. See anything interesting while i wait to update?

Edit: Also for you guys adding each other to btag on the PTR, make sure you do it in game as the PTR is a separate btag list altogether. So if i add you on live, or from the battle net app, you wont show up in my friends list on the PTR.

Did you go to the character copy web page (while logged in), click on history/status, back to service, then to account summary?

I haven't try to play PTR with this account, but my working unlinked F2P looks exactly the same.
