Protection Paladins, Spell Hit, and PvP Weapon Choice

Lore can be bent to suit your needs. I need forsaken paladins. I don't need cowadins.

In lore, Tauren Paladins are actually not Paladins at all. They are Sunwalker Druids that workship different things from other Paladin races. They are only called Paladins because of game mechanics.

They could totally be BSed into the lore

In a world where the Forsaken are on the edge of extinction — the Archmagus Supervillain has reforged the demonic runeblade Frostmourne - Item - World of Warcraft and become the new Lich King. Supervillain's new and improved scourge armies — Las Plagas — wrought from the corpses of the Forsaken themselves, have forced the Forsaken from their home in the Undercity.

Now on the run, their only home lies in the former shadow priestess, Udders, and her new order of Forsaken paladins - the Eye of the Undying Faith. Udders, one time advisor to the Archmagus Supervillian, discovered the new Lich King's nefarious plans. The evil plans were too diabolical to even fully explain, but they were so super-bad that Udders decided that she could no longer tread on the border of dark and light. Udders decided to flee Supervillain's impenetrable island fortress in the Veiled Sea, and try to find help to stop him, in Tirisfal Glades.

Through continuous prayer, and sheer faith in the Light, the priestess Udders was granted a miracle. The Light rewarded Udders for her unwavering belief by granting her Stabmaster, the Sword of Holy Undeath. Imbued with Holy Crystals™, the sword grants the possessor the power to dub new paladins, and shield the bodies of the Forsaken from effects of the paladin initiation ceremony, which would otherwise destroy them.

Wielding Stabmaster, Udders created a new order of paladins, and dubbed them the Eye of the Undying Faith. Udders, now a paladin herself. now leads the Eye in a quest to stop Supervillain in his bid for world domination and eradicate Las Plagas from Azeroth…

There. Now make it so. Eat your heart out Richard A. Knaak

I love you for knowing what you're talking about. We need more of this on the forums. Compliments stemming from various topics I've seen you in, not just this one.

Just taking a break from the technical stuff, I guess.

Seriously, though. This thread comes at a great time, since I'm building a pally right now. The info has helped a lot, since prot dps gear seems to be about the same as ret.

I don't think the thread has been derailed. I made it for two reasons, one to raise awareness of spell hit and the fact that HoJ, AS and HW all require 6% to be capped against 20s. The second was because I was interested in the stat differences between the paladin races. When I looked up the armories listed in Lofi's list, or paladins I was playing with and against, they were almost without fail, not even close to cap.

Anyway, general paladin discussion is well within the scope of the thread's original intention, and I think I've encouraged some people to gear appropriately or consider getting into protection, and that's a good thing. I'd like to see more geared and skilled protadins out there on both sides. I also welcome different opinions and ideas on how to gear.

I was kidding :D It was a bit derailed but not in a bad way.

On a sadder note. First pull outside deadmines and I get a Cold Iron Pick drop... would have been pretty cool except I already have a reef axe. Hope I didn't use up all my blue drop luck on it.

EDIT!!! Second respawn run and I got the skele gloves! Thanks a million guys :D Now I just need a good cape to drop from a satchel and grind out looms and I'll be in a great spot.

@Bob - gratz on green.

On Topic-ish - I have always really wanted a forsaken-adin. I think by the end of the game they will push aside lore and allow any race to be any class.

Umm yeah paladins #1. Good reminder to check my hit + thanks. I typically have 5-6 sets so I should be gravy.

logged out with the most bitch-slapping-est gear i am comforatble wearing in a BG. in case its not there by the time you check: 290 attack, 1.7 hp, 5.95% hit, 10.57% crit. typically reserved for an all-20 enemy squad (more and more rare these days) or when i need to murder a stacked-up FC. i could prolly squeeze an extra str or two in there but then my HP would be dangerously low.

my all-purpose gear (which may or may not be showing by the time you check the armory) is 268 attack, 2k HP, 8.12% hit, 9.34% crit. this is about where i am comfortable on most occasions nowadays given the high rate of 24s. aradiel is getting the hit % from the character interface in-game which i think is totally off right now. these display numbers were set after the first MoP patch and haven't yet changed. there have been a number of hotfixes and whatnot since but no updates in the display data (check your holy shock...it was never right and still isn't). i notice a big miss difference on 24's when i put the 7 str ring on vs the demon band, so the place between +15 and +13 hit might be a sweet spot of sorts. havent tried a +14 build yet.

Not worth it imo. Trading about 300 health for about 10 strength seems off. Or am I missing something.

Do you have the SFK quest shoulders? They lose a bit of stats and crit but have 4 hit, added with boots of hero and bracers of most trusted cover cap leaving you room to use the shield against evil, foremans legs ect.

Bob

There are no options for mogging plate BoAs besides other plate BoAs, correct?

You can't mog BOA plate shoulders at all. You can use the plate boa shoulders on warriors/paladins but they are technically plate that's classified as mail so you can use them. You can't transmog stuff you can't use.

If it wasn't for the eyepatch, there would be tons of non hit capped ally protadins (and others classes).

It looks like dividend legs + boots of hero + bracers of most trusted are the BiS combo to cap hit if you have LFH. If not then Tiger goggles + boots of hero + bracers of most trusted.

Honestly very easy to get and not a huge stat sacrifice compared to sfk shoulders vrs loom shoulders.

Also quick question, thougts on http://www.wowhead.com/item=20429 vrs http://www.wowhead.com/item=6321? 1 Str and 1 Sta vrs 4 agil? Is the minor crit gain worth it?
