Priest gear update ...

Soaps

Hello my dears ...

Its been some time since my days of non stop playing ... Work has pulled me away, and now I rarely get enough time to log on long enough to see whats changed ...

My question is for my toon, gear wise ...

I'd like to know if my gear is out of date or not, I've checked a few guides but they are all out of date. I dont get much free time but just as a past time I'd like to know what i can improve (gear wise).

I'll try to log on to keep my wow account current.

Any feedback is appreciated.

It's not so much that 2her are out it's that haste is in.

This and another thread are almost exactly the same so I'm going to quote what i wrote over there lol:

"http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/healer-gear-56342/index4.html has a ton of info about haste vs crit vs int. Page 4 I have a chart showing the comparisons. Page 14 I have an excel doc where you can input your stats and it will tell you what provides the most healing done.

TL: DR Haste everywhere you can."

Should link my haste guide cause I'm too lazy to do it myself Hashbrowns

Honestly, if I were running a priest I think I'd run Main/Offhand for Haste, but otherwise I'd go Stam cloak and Stam belt. That goes for your neck too.

At brackets where damage is unbalanced, stamina is always far and above the best stat for healers.

In terms of healing done, numerically you are best off with Haste (and in "reaction time vs healing" as well, which is a practical application).

I only prefer Critical Strike (over haste) on healers that have spells with high base critical strikes, such as Regrowth for Rdruids and Holy Shock for Hpallys.

The reason being that the critical effects of both of those spells are absolutely crucial to the gameplay of the respective classes.

Consider for instance a scenario that happens frequently on my Druid: healing a flag carrier on the node while you are on the roof. During this time, your healing done is going to be relatively PvE in that you will have little to no interruptions to your spam healing of your FC.

With a base 60% Critical Strike chance with Regrowth, you can rely on it being a Critical Strike a large percentage of the time. With my druid's set, that number happens to be raised to 75% of the time.

If I must cast roughly 30 Regrowths on the Flag Carrier before we are able to get a cap or successfully wipe the attacking team, then the increased 15% chance to critically heal raised the number of "Regrowths" from (30x1.6) 48 to (30x1.75) roughly 53 Regrowths.

While numerically Critical Strike is strong, it also serves the purpose of reducing the possibility of a non-crit, which is extremely important and can not be over-emphasized. Oftentimes the healing from Regrowth, Swiftmend, and Rejuve ticks of one healer is not enough to offset the extremely high DPS from the enemy team.

In those situations, reducing the number of non-crits from your Regrowth spam is essentially the most valuable allocation of your gear resources.

tl;dr - Certain stats emphasize the strengths of certain healers, but stamina is always extremely important

P.S. - IMHO, for the reasons listed above (and always choose gear with your primary stat if possible as a healer, so no cloak of the bandit to increase Critical Strike):

Restoration Druid: Stamina > Crit > Haste

Healer Priests: Stamina > Haste > Crit

Restoration Shaman: Stamina... >>> Haste > Crit

Holy Paladins: Stamina > Crit > Haste

Thanks for the link and taking the time to post it. Will read.

And before i go, does Haste Trinket replace my AGM? or PvP Trinket?

Thanks for the info, i always enjoy posts that explain why as apposed to posts that just tell me to do something.
Lucky I have my FC set so no need to grind too much but the weapons.

I would have to agree with this assessment. Since my resto shamans converted to a balanced stam set, my survivability rate has increased. Each new patch/hotfix brings new strategies to the table. Who knows what stat will be best for heals come the pre 6.0 patch. Devising a plan of action is half of the fun.

I'd probably go haste/CC break. But AGM is really nice... You should just decide how much stamina you need. If you feel you get focused a lot then run AGM. Haste everywhere else. Gl ;)
