Priest Bubble

The reason people preshield is plain and simple. They want to top the healing charts. That is all that matters on this board. Healing numbers and damage numbers. When we start linking CC meter and Dispel meter screenshots, things may change. Until then, the preshielding will remain. Total damage and total healing does not mean squat unless it is on the correct target and at the correct time.

/cheers

shield wont help u toping healing charts.

In 19s pre-shielding can definitely cause the death of a teammate. However thats because of the burst and healthpools of 19s. In 20-29 bracket everyone health is nearly doubled if not more in most casts, however the dmg overall is probably only slightly diff in pugs especially. Pre-shielding in 20-29 pugs should actually be more beneficial in most games unless u are vsing a premade capable of high burst, 2 spriests, feral, ect. In addition no shaman will really be purging ur pre-bubbles so pre-bubbling allows for less pressure. Most games u my be the only healer or have one other un-reliable healer. In this case u want as little pressure as possible. In a premade setting pre-bubbling can damage ur team, but in a pug setting it generally helps it especially taking into account 20-29 pugs. I find it really funny when ppl are so adamant that pre-bubbling is the only way to heal efficiently. Look at the circumstances first. A bubble in 20-29s is much lower % to health wise than 19s so its not really a life safer, if theres a spriest and rog open on any dps they will prob die, if anything it would be better to have a pre-bubble on him to absorb initial burst while pre-healing the incoming burst u see. Again, 10v10 wargame healing is a lot diff than pug and in this case the more advanced tech is actually less useful.

AlbinoCow brings up very valid points. Shielding also increases haste for a short while too. Although I doubt that is why priests are doing it.
When 29 priests start bragging about how many dispels they have or start showing SS of them beating shamans and Paladins on dispelling as opposing to shielding everything in sight. That is when that player will be deemed a "good" healer.
